Has anyone heard both the RB-020 and the RB-024 to compare them? I like the looks and price on the RB-020, but if the Whyte Laydie ring makes a nicer difference in tone, I might be willing to go for one. Thanks. Ray

Sorry, I meant to compare the RB-024 and the RB-012, not the RB-20 which doesn't exist...LOL.

Hi Ray...I have both...the 12 has a brass hoop and is a very sweet sounding banjo, the WL is louder and sharper sounding...

I cannot compare the two but I have the Recording King California Deluxe and find it very well made. I have other factory banjo's in the same price range and if it came down to chucking all but one, the RK would stay. Also had I to buy sight unseen another factory made banjo in this price range it would be the recording King California deluxe. I am very pleased with it. The whyte lady tone ring is sharper and more agressive sounding than a rolled brass hoop but that's the nature of them. I hope this helps,
