Most all of you other tenor players know of Tim Allan...one of the best TB performers today. He's all over You Tube if you want to hear him.

He has produced a lot of instructional Book/CD sets which I have tried and found to be excellent. Some are basic and others more advanced. The books include the lead sheet with chords and chord form charts. On the CD he plays at a slow learning speed.

I have no reason for posting this other than to help out other tenor players.

Thanks,
Mark

I bought a book and CD set by him last year. It featured 40 solos for tenor banjo (C, G, D, A) The arrangements that Mr. Allen came up with for this set are interesting and helpful. I don't play any of his arrangments note for not, but I use his parts of his arrangements where and when they fit into my style. That set was a good investment.

Well, I don't play them chord for chord because some of his chords a bit of a stretch, albeit very interesting to listen to. His Duo-form arrangements sound great but I've not tried them yet. Those are in a more advanced book as are the more difficult chord progressions.

Like you, I found them a good investment....prices very fair...

Thanks,
Mark

I have "Tim Allen's Notebook" and have found it very valuble. He is a fantastic player and a sensational guy! Super nice!

Me too. I bought his first book and CD and am working on "4 leaf clover". Enough challenges to last a long time. Great investment.
