I guess you can do an internet engine search and try to find Buddy Whacter's banjo teaching series. He has them for tenor and plectrum. Hope this helps.

My teacher (Cynthia Sayer) has students that she teaches over the internet using Skype.

If you're interested, you can contact her through her website at

www.cynthiasayer.com

She's also a BHO member, so you can contact her through this site.

For starters, will you be playing Irish Music (seems obvious, eh, but you never know)or Dixieland? Playing and tuning will be different depending on the style you want to play. There are some Irish banjoists on BHO, so maybe they'll chime in here. (actually 180 listed in Ireland, including several in Dublin) You might contact Tom Hannaway through the BHO for pointers.

I''ll never play like Earl Scruggs or sing like Luciano Pavarotti, but I''ll pick better than Luciano and sing tenor better than Earl

I second NYC's suggestion. Cynthia's Skype lessons are wonderful.

Hello and welcome.

There are several teachers listed in Dublin on Tom Cussen's website.

Perhaps a trip to a local pub?

Goodluck in your search, Juup
