Hi,
I think her banjo playing on her record "Best of Friends, Volume One" is great! I've learnt so much from it. Can't wait for volume two! Does anybody know her and know if she is even thinking about doing a volume two? And if yes, do you think it will feature her banjo playing again, or will she play the fiddle next time? I'm holding my thumbs hoping she'll do another banjo record!
Best,
Max

Holding your thumbs? Both at the same time? I've never heard that one. I had to try it and to my surprise it CAN be done... Sorry, I don't know who Nancy Sluys is... I'll check it out.

Huh, that may be a Swedish expression than? Never thought about it. Well that’s what you do when you hope for something over here.

"holding your thumbs" does seem to be quite appropriate for a clawhammer banjo site!

You mean you are "keeping your fingers crossed", Max. In German too you talk of "pressing your thumbs" when you are hoping for something. It's interesting, because the physical gesture you make is, of course, different as well: crossing your fingers or pressing your thumbs into a fist
Anyway, back to topic: I've never heard of Nancy Sluys! So I'm now intrigued. Tried YouTube with no luck, so I'm going on a little web search...
Edit: I found her myspace site: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cf...dID=99420256

The fingers crossed seems a bit odd to me, since that is what you do when you lie too... Ah well.
I don't know much about Nancy either. But I really enjoy her CD www.elderly.com/recordings/i...DEL-CD056.htm Definitely worth a listen if you get a chance!

Maybe I'll just hold my thumbs if I lie. That way no one will know and it should work just as well...
