Over in the CH/OT there is a discussion about new "old-time" tunes that began after I had decided to work on this tune, which is a new one composed by a Chicago fiddle & banjo player (more info on my web site).
I've learned this tune from Lynn (chirps) Smith's version on his Down in Little Egypt CD.
I'm in A, on my nylagut-strung bicentennial.

I don't always get into CH style, but this tune is nice and mellow. Very relaxing.
Good Job, ' really like that deep mellow tone too.

Thanks guys, it's a sweet tune for sure. I believe that I actually got a chance to play with the composer at a party in a Chicago suburb in September 0f 2006. That's where I learned Strummin' on my Banjo which I have now forgotten.
Yopp: the new digs look pretty much the same as the old, although they may be a little bit faster. I keep on thinking I should dress it up with some cool design--but then I decide I'd rather just record something else. I like banjoing much better than computering.
Jammer: I seem to remember that you had posted an original tune that you called "the closest thing to an old-time tune" that you had written. I also remember that I liked it and had put it on the pile of things to learn. Gonna have to find that pile.

Great tune, Erich. Thanks for posting this one. Love the sound of the banjo as well. The Nylguts are perfect for that one.

Yes, one hecky-darn of a good tune. And you've given my alum hunk of junk Sears banjo renewed hope. But to no avail. I won't get new strings for it. It will continue to languish in the basement as a grim reminder of the 1970's "golden" era of mail order banjos.

Great tune - we play it down here in St. Louis. Probably someone down here got it from Chirps.
