This was the easiest process by which to choose a bridge that I've ever been through. Mike emailed me some questions about my banjo and what kind of sound I was looking for. He sent six different bridges for my evaluation. For my Stelling Red Fox I settled on an 11/16 -select maple-purple ebony/topped-pegged bridge with Crowe spacing. This KatEyz bridge weighs 2.65 which is heavier than the other bridges that Mike sent. It is an outstanding bridge with a great sustain and clarity. Up the neck notes are especially clear and sustained and there is a great vibration that you feel while playing. Playing with a lighter touch really sounds sweet and "musical" with this bridge; a good difference betaween x and Y position without the extreme crackiness closer to the bridge. Each string gets equal treatment. The vollume increases with this bridge but it is not a harsher sound; just more of the potential in the banjo. I'm very pleased and plan on keeping this bridge on my Red Fox. I do not have a Pass rim on this banjo as it was one of the last made by Geoff prior to the Pass' installation. There is plenty of bottom-mid- and high end and the KatEyz bridge enhances it. Thom Moore |
