I soon switch to play clawhammer - this banjo can handle it too. I removed the resonator and put a Remo Fyberskin and it sounds OK - but it will never be an true Open-back old-time banjo Sound Rating 6 Setup Setup ok as far as I remember - a few screws were loose, nothing serious Setup Rating 7 Appearance It looks ok, apart from the aluminium rim when the resonator is off. Appearance Rating 7 Reliability I'm playing it a lot since a whole year, and it's still in good condition. Not the worst, not the best. Best suited for a Bluegrass player, I would have bought a Deering Goodtime or a Gold-tone if I had knew I was going to play clawhammer, but I was able to learn on it.
