Sound

Sounds great. A little lacking in definition in the base but otherwise a very strong sounding banjo

Sound Rating

Setup

Set up was reasonably good and only needed to be restrung into something more suitable to my heavy hand.

Appearance

Reliability

Flange was loose on rim and turned out to be a serious issue that needed repair. The rim was simply too small for the flange.

Customer Service

Absolutely the worst. Tried repeatedly to get Mark to fixed the banjo. He ignored email after email and finally answered the phone only to say send emails....never returned one. I had to fix the banjo by purchasing a new rim and having a luthier turn it to fit the flange.

I would never buy a Crafters again. I simply can not believe a new banjo warranty was not honored by the company and what makes it worse is the ignoring of repeated attempts to get assistance. For this kind of money you have a lot of choices. I would choose much better customer service.

Bluegrass. Full, Rich, and LOUD. Much different tone than my rb250. But just as much pop.

Setup

It was not set up at all. Old strings 1/2 in bridge, Loose head. But, Hey, it was in a rock and roll centered store. what do you expect. I installed GHS 150lights, 11/16 Bridge, tightened the head to suit me.

Quilted maple with a high figured neck. Abolone inlay on headstock , mop on neck. BEAUTIFUL banjo. No flaws.

All stock hardware very reliable. Easy to tune and stays that way. Good finish and I am sure I can depend on it. I would definately use it without a backup.

Haven't dealt with the company yet. It is new and under warranty .

Excellent tone ring, very smooth neck. Plays like butter. All parts are high quality but I am sure I will change some out because I can never leave well enough alone.

I was shocked at the price I paid. In the store for at least 2 years and the manager just wanted it gone. Lucky me. I love it. If it was stolen, I would curl up in the fetal position and just cry. [then look for another one] Questions before buying it for this price? "am I on Candid Camera?"

Very nicely done inlays. I like the deviation from the classic Gibson style inlay patterns.

I particularly like the necks that Crafters of Tennessee makes. The TN-20 tone ring is a major player in the prewar tone ring sound competition.

I purchased the banjo based on the sound and look of similar banjos played by others, which speaks well of the manufacturer's consistency.
