Sound

This is the open back I love. It's a great frailing banjo. It's set up with a Fiberskyn head and has a full rich sound and the base string really rings nicely. Actually it's very balanced across the strings. With the Fiberskyn head, it produces a soft tonal quality in my opinion.

Setup

This banjo is totally hand made and set up by the maker Roger Buckmaster. Everything was perfect as I ordered.

Appearance

Very nice looking banjo with strapping at the back of the neck, inlay on rim, ebony neck with neck binding, inlay on peg heard and finger board is tasteful and not over done. Mine came with a polished ebony heel cap. Very attractive and nicely done for the price paid.

Reliability

The hardware, tone ring and all parts other than the strings, head and tuning pegs are made by Buckmaster. The quality is high. My guess is it's highly reliable.

Customer Service

I purchased my banjo through the internet from buckmasterusa1@aol.com The dealer was very helpful, friendly and honest.

Components

The componets were all of the highest quality, but as is usually the case, the tuning pegs were average. For a banjo of this quality, I'd certainly purchase a better set of pegs as an upgrade if I did it over.

Overall Comments

I would recommend this banjo to anyone wanting one of the best banjo's made. It this banjo was stolen, I'd buy the same model over again. Compared with other banjos in this cost range, I found this one to be the best that I've ever played on. I wish I had asked about the tunning pegs though, so I could have upgraded. I'll leave these on for now and maybe buy a better set of pegs in the future.
