Forgive the size of this one. I'm not sure how to resize. This is Julie Elkins and John Lowell of Kane's River at Blueberry Bluegrass Festival.

By the way, if you have never witnessed the infamous "stick-finger" style of banjo picking from Julie, you are missing a definate treat. |

Ah yes, Dean! But the Nikon in your hands is like Sonny with his banjo in his hands......it is not so much the instrument, it is the operator!

Dana Cupp on the Opry March 6, 2004 - Dana said he busted that head a short time later. Gee, who's that peekin' in over on the right there?

Hey Dean, Great shot! Dana's playing a set of Sonny's Ugly D's on his Gibson. I've got a set on order, but Greg Rich is gonna purtify them for me first. These photos are awesome!

I've really enjoyed the pictures posted here. Cia is great, but I really like the one of Alison (my favorite so far) that Darcy posted. She is lookin' mighty fine. mm, mm, MMMM. Terry Baucom is also lookin' sharp with Doyle Lawson.

Great thread. I would like to see one of Haley.
Maybe you could put one of Tony Pass.
Greg Rich would also be good to post with his banjo.

Sorry about the small size of the last photos -- that was my first attempt at posting photographs. These were scanned from old 35mm prints. Any suggestions on how to enlarge them without loss of picture quality would be appreciated. |

It is really not that hard, heck I can even do it! I lifted this from another thread:
1) Your pic must reside some where on the web here's a site that will host your pics for free:
photobucket.com/
2) To post pic on here activate img tags from tool bar (insert image)
3) Go to your pic and right click it
4) Left click on PROPERTIES
5) Left click and drag to highlight ADDRESS [URL]
6) When highlighted right click and COPY
7) Left click OK
8) Paste between the img tags img paste here img
9) Click preview to check before posting
10) If it doesn't show in the preview, you have done something wrong, back up and try again!

I am just now checking out this thread. Thanks to all for posting these!
To Dean Hoffmeyer I will say this: In my opinion many of your pics (notably Jim Mills) have crossed the line between photography and art. They not only capture the visual subject in a beautiful and poetic manner, but a whole range of human feeling too. I checked out your website... Wow! I am speechless. You are a gifted artist.

Jason Davis is a really nice local fellow who can pick the tar out of a banjo! He toured for 9 months with Kenny & Amanda Smith, 6 months with BlueRidge, now with Grasstowne. He's sitting in the back of his pickup where we met up in Colonial Heights, VA. This is his 2003 Lancaster which he used on Michelle Nixon's latest CD, as well as two cuts on Huber's "Cuppa 'Jo" recording. A marvelous Huber!

Another goodun' Dean. Jason has some big shoes to fill in my opinion. I sure enjoyed Huber's picking with Kenny and Amanda, that man sure can pull tone from a banjo!
