My 5th string friction tuner has a metal sleeve that the actual tuner goes into. Has anyone dealt with this before, especially removing one? Do I simply remove like any other tuner? Thanks in advance.

The sleeve is usually part of the peg assembly. When you pull the peg, the sleeve comes out with the rest of it.

These tend to break at the bottom end. There is a flange on the end of the shaft. It sound like the flange has broken off. The 'sleeve' should pull out with a bit of persuasion.

Thanks, Wayne. I didn't think of that until after I posted.  blush

I believe the "sleeve" is just tapped into the hole without any glue.
