I just had a very nice banjo stolen  last Saturday afternoon at the Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival.  How can I post it on BHO.   Thanks

I would post it in the classified ads, and in all caps enter "STOLEN BANJO". Then give all the details in the description.

A photograph/description on this thread would certainly help.

The Northern California Bluegrass Society website (www.scbs.org) maintains a section on missing/stolen instruments nationwide...several have been recovered...this might be worth a try...Good Luck

First of all do NOT post in classifieds.  Classifieds is for the sale and trade of instruments and/or accessories.  I'd put it in other banjo related forum and, if you have pictures, post them, too, and any identifying markings, if there are any.   Give as much information about the banjo as you can so people can be looking for it.

I presume you've notified the police and put in a report.  Don't expect them to do much but you can check pawn shops around the area and see if it shows up at one of them.

I sincerely hope you find your banjo.  I think it's awful that someone would steal another person's instrument.  I hope they get caught and prosecuted.

If you would have put the details in your post here you would have already posted it.

I have been on the road away from my computer coming back from Bean Blossom and just ask last evening how to go about posting the details. I am in the process of trying to find construction photos and final photos and a complete description of the banjo. As soon as I am able to get this info retrieved and into a complete package I will post it here. The Sheriff's dept was notified there at Bean Blossom and has an ongoing investigation in progress with a case number. Thanks to all for trying to help. Al Spencer

You could clue us in with the brand, model, color, the kind of neck and resonator woods, style of inlays, and any obvious identifying marks-- like big scratches . . . .etc.

Definitely post widely about the banjo. Also, check Ebay- pawn shop banjos will often show up there. Crooks almost always want to sell the instrument quickly for drug money. A member on BHO had his Gibson stolen in Reno about a month ago. He posted on BHO and other sites and kept an eye out. The banjo showed up on a pawn shop posting on Ebay a few days ago. He called the police, and they went by and picked it up. He now has the banjo back! So it can and does work if you get the information out there. Good luck!

First of all, I would like to thank each and every one of the Bluegrass Community that has called, texted, e-mailed, etc about my lost at the Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival. The robbery happened on Saturday, June 17th somewhere between noon and 5:45. A short time later a call was made and the Brown County Sheriffs Dept. sent a Deputy to talk to me and start the investigation. The case file for this incident is #201706-000606 and Deputy Stargell’s phone number is 812-988-6655 ext 521. I have already sent pictures to them and I will send a copy of this information to them also. My phone number is 304 482 5673. This banjo has a lot of meaning to me, as well as a great sounding banjo, and I sure would like to find it.

My goal on this latest instrument was to be similar to what the hot rod folks call “Rat Rods” Very old high quality woods and the very finest components were utilized.
The “AGS” in the headstock is the initials of my name.

Components: Banjo built in 2016
Rim: 100Yr old furniture grade 24 segment birch block
Neck: 80 yr old mahogany
Fingerboard: 40+ year old rosewood 26 ¼”scale
Tonering: 20 hole Dannick #342
Tailpiece: Custom Fults
Brass stretcher & one piece flange: late 60’s early 70’s Steve Ryan with areas of plating removed, thus the old look.
Head: American Made Banjo
Hooks: Old steel from 30’s

The “Old Dog” in the neck block was a name that I gave the instrument at the beginning. The only AGS on the planet with “Old Dog” in the neck.

This photo of the custom Fults Tailpiece assembly would be a dead giveaway. This is the only one on this planet like it. I sent Bob Fults a thirties tenor tailpiece and ask him to make the addition of his great attachment assembly to it. Really had the look I was looking for.

A great looking banjo, with your initials on the peg head and "Old Dog" on the neck block should make it easy to identify.
Hope you get it back, and undamaged.

I agree with Dave:  very good looking banjo and distinctive markings that would be impossible to hide.  Hope it shows up soon, undamaged, and they get the person who took it.
