I have tried every bridge I could find - my Snuffy is the best, at least according to my '28 Granada.
A very big piece of banjo history has left us. If you have already, please play a tune for Snuffy. I played "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
Others?

I have one on my Enoch Tradesman. Big improvement over the original, to my ears.

My first Gibson had one on it from the previous owner. When I sold that banjo I kept the bridge and still have it, and 4 or 5 other Snuffy's I bought because of the sound of the first one. I dont think I know of an advanced player that has not tried them, and I never heard anybody complain about them. Such a loss!! |

Yup, I've got a few.
5/8 SS II has been on my banjo for a few years now.

F943-1 has one, as do a few of my other banjos. Plus the ones in the little box on the bench. Great bridges. The compensated ones I used to use years ago were great, too, and helped me through that phase before it became apparent that the need for compensation was my problem, not the banjo's problem. Might be putting a couple of them up for sale soon . . . |

Over forty years of playing, I've never come across a better bridge. The SS bridges are on three of my banjos, and I see no reason to change. I like the fat ones in 11/16. Snuffy's bridges will last a long time, no doubt about it.

I use a snuffy smith bridge and have for quite awhile. Mike Munford put one on my banjo about 8 years ago and I have not stopped using them since. I'm in shock over loosing Snuffy, we just got an order from him the day before he passed away. I suspended all sales of them at Banjoteacher.com. I'm not sure what all of us are going to do, he made them by hand. Thanks, Ross

A few days late but I use SS on my RB-250 and my Calico! First bridge I ever purchased when I got my Calico, thru research on here, recommendations etc etc. then liked it so well I purchased one for my 250 when I got it! 2 completely different banjo's but SS's work awesome on both, hmm, go figure!

I bought a Snuffy Smith bridge from Ross Nickerson a few years ago but I only had a $200 banjo to put it on. But it still made a huge difference! Unfortunately I sold that banjo with all the extras I'd added still attached.
It's probably better off being used by a newbie player than lying in my banjo parts drawer.

Well, I bought a couple more Snuffy III bridges the other day after I heard of his passing. I decided last night I was going to get a couple of more. Guess what? I cant find any. I guess they were bought up that quick. If anyone knows where I can get a couple let me know. EE

I have one on a current banjo only because I needed a 9/16 and he had one. It's a good bridge as are so many others and each one has a home.

Hatfield Music still has some. I've been wanting to buy a Snuffy Smith bridge for awhile...just found out about his passing so I searched until I found some at Hatfield. Ordered a 5/8 1.

Both of my banjos have Snuffy's. I have a few spares tucked away for the future, if needed. My dad has one on his banjo as well.
