That domain seems to be dormant. I'll contact the owner and see if it's for sale...

Wow that was super fast.
I emailed the owner of the domain foodforum.com and he replied within minutes.
He will see that domain name for $7,500. I would suggest an offer of less, probably $5k. (This is not a joke).
So, take some collections together, and all those Food Forum folks can create a website?
No pony in this race. If they develop a website -- or an area here on BHO -- I'll check it out.

The owner of that domain is Randall Marcinko who emailed me last night 2 or 3 times back and forth. I gave him a link to this thread. He is intrigued and wants to know how such a website would be used.
His opening offer to sell the domain name for $7,500 is kind of like haggling at a food market. He'll take less I'm sure. That's just for the name only. No website.
Or we can all take a collection plate and pay Eric and his staff to add the Food Forum here.
I'll happily broker that deal too. LOL.

Great. I had it offered for 22.99 on a GoDaddy auction with no counter-offers. Now that the domain owner thinks there's two interested, it's now 7500.

Hey Ken--
GoDaddy doesn't set the price when the domain name is already owned by someone. The owner sets the price. GoDaddy's price probably came from the fact the domain has remained dormant for about 7 or 8 years. At best, GoDaddy was looking at the registrar information.
I once wanted the domain name "keyboardcases.com" and when I irst looked at it, no one had bought the domain name yet and I could have bought it for $15.00 at the time. Years later when I decided to pursue that project, the domain name had been grabbed by someone else, and I think the asking price was $15,000 at the time.
Beside, GoDaddy is NOT the registrar of foodforum.com. Network Solutions is. GoDaddy can't sell something they don't own or even manage, anyway.
