Ian Montgomery and I plotted together to produce a really good low cost pro quality banjo. We picked the best parts from our stashes and came up with this.
5 string blue grass banjo -$1195 Assembled from some of the best components available Mahogany Cooperman rim topped with a Cathey #12 tone ring A Stelling one piece flange on a vintage Gibson resonator Fults 1934 tail piece Weighs approx. 11 lbs.
The neck is a Gibson clone but is made wider than standard - 1 3/8 in. wide at the nut Nicely flamed maple neck Great for big hands and fat fingers like mine 5 Star planetary tuners all around No 5th string spikes yet, but I will install how many and where you want
Comes with a lightly used thermoplastic hard shell case that originally housed a Gold Star.
And the sound? Just great! Growly 4th string. Nice clear accurate noting all the way up the neck. Good volume. I don't do blue grass so I won't try to do a sound sample of real music. I may try to do a sample of just some strummed chords up and down the neck.
As usual, three day approval period. If you return it, you pay shipping both ways
Retro I added a sound sample. No music, just chords. To paraphrase Mississippi Fred MacDowel, a great slide guitar blues player- 'I do not play no blue grass, y'all.' (He said, 'I do not play no rock n' roll, y'all.') Dan in Minneapolis
