I was just filling in for them and i didnt practice with them enough. See the band i play with here in KY, we play mostly new stuff and they have there own song writer guy and whatnot(he pitches songs to LRB,IIIRD tyme out and tommy webb) and the stuff we do, i play 10X better. I usually use alot of sammy shelor licks, terry baucon licks and J.D Licks in my pickin and use a ton of pull offs, but i couldnt with them cuz it was all traditional i tried during one song on there and screwed up. Im gonna have to post a Video of my band i pick with and then you all can Really see me at my best. Ill post some sound clips of the banjo and my other banjos as well(And that 250 if a ever get the con flippin thing back together!).

I must say, despite a few timing issues, I'm impressed! Nice sounding banjo Dave. I've also played that same building and the acoustics are nice.
I know those guys......my latest vid on the tube is Lloyd Blevins (no kin), singing, Little Girl in TN.

Dave, I started playing in 1974 and have been obsessed with bluegrass banjo since then - also enjoy playing clawhammer. I developed focal dystonia in 1981 and unfortunately, cannot play 3 finger at all at this point.
My point is - you have no apologies to make to anyone about timing - for yourself or this band. You explained that you were filling in which means that you were probably going to be playing new material. I applaud the Blevins Brothers for asking you to be a part of their performance - which, by the way I downloaded and I don't just download performance that are technically perfect - as a matter of fact, I stay away from those - booorrrringggg.
And the thread topic is "I am still a Happy Customer' under 'Other Banjo-Related Topics'. This was not in the 'Review' section. Franky, I am not quite sure why 'timing' was mentioned in one of the posts. Even though I am sure that it was not meant in the manner in which it came across, that is a bit condescending.
I have also been playing electric and upright bass since the early 70s so I know a bit about timing as well...I loved the voice of the banjo, the 'fire in the belly of the player' and the obvious pleasure being derived in being able to be a part of this wonderful occasion!
After nearly 40 years being "obsessed", this is what I truly appreciate about this music.
My $0.02. YMMV

Bill, I keep telling people: If it hasn't got ANY holes, it's not a ring. It's a disk.
Still, call it what one will, it'll still most likely SOUND just great, and banjos are n the sound biz, not the wordplay biz. Good luck with the project.
mmm....well, I can't argue with that logic, Mike...
It does have one big hole - in the middle, so I guess that makes it a ONE hole ring??
Hey guys, Arthur is going to install one of his 1 hole rings on a pre war rim with a pre war resonator! Naw, that just doen't have that same ring, ahem, sphere to it..
OK, it's early and getting back to Dave's pickin', I really enjoyed and Brent's Youtube work is outstanding as well...(Granada90) two good ol' KY boys 'keeping to the tradition!'
