Hi everyone
I'm new here and also new to banjo.
I'm looking for a 5 string acoustic/electric banjo that isn't going to break the bank.
I really want one that looks, plays, and sounds like a typical 5 string acoustic banjo, but with the added versatility of an electric.
They seem kinda rare, so can anyone point me towards one?
Also, in case electrics are too expensive, would it be hard to turn an acoustic banjo into an electric?
Thanks |

Thanks for the welcome
They sure look nice, but I guess $600+ is a little on the expensive side for me.
I was thinking of picking up a used 5 string on Craigslist and adding a pickup to it
Either that or build one of those "cookie tin" banjos and put a pickup on that |

its a cool looking banjo (deering cross fire)
i often play my deering intermediate sans resonator + pillow to mute
one of these days i need to fetch my gibson masterone, i believe still has that pick up on the trush rod & keith tuners. that's a beautiful instrument. i believe it from 1970's as I bought it used in early 1980's
there was another electric banjo for sale on this web site a few months back and it was less pricey than the deering cross fre
for now my paramont 'A' and deering intermediate are the banjo's i pick, the mastertone is in storage at paw's. i just prefer acoustic music.

Yeah, that's the route I think I'm going to go. Looks like I'll be keeping an eye out for an acoustic banjo!
Thanks for all the help everyone |
