Stan - you may still hit some traffic on 66 even around 7 in the evening but it should break up by the time you get to Gainseville.....always does. Be careful on 81 until you get south of Lexington....always lots ot "watchful eyes" on that stretch of the road. I made the trip down to Radford this weekend from Alexandria and there were no shortage of cops on 81. Be careful between Christiansburg and Radford as well....they're always hanging out there looking for kids from Tech and Radford. Have a safe trip - see you on Thursday.

Brenda and I went to see Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers Sunday Evening at the Ryman. The greatest surprise in the world happened when Earl came out and played Foggy Mountain Breakdown during the encore. It was a fantastic show and a dream come true for any banjo player. See everyone at Nash Camp on Friday...Monty

Jason has a good ear, and always has had a good banjo. I bought his Lancaster because it sounded so good on the Huber CD, but this Chief is pretty special. Makes me want one...

Well, back home now from NashCamp-- hope everyone makes it home safe.. great year once again-- Cathy, now that we have a title to the song, we need to write it so you can sing it next yeeah... Special thanks to Cindy and Sonny for keeping this camp going.. only thing I can find wrong with it is that it is too short....

Yep, I made it home safely, too.

NashCamp was a blast (as usual) and I'm glad I went -- it's so much fun to pick with you guys every year.

I thought the addition of Bill Emerson and Tom Adams to the teachers this year was great. I enjoyed meeting both of them and really enjoyed their picking.

I pulled in today around 3:00PM, just in time to cut the grass.
It was great to see old friends and make new ones!
Thanks Cindy, Sonny, Bill and all!

For those of you NashCampers who tried out my Kay bass, here's a link to Jerry Fretwell's website. Doug, I've written him so he can look up what strings were on the 62 M1 that I got from him last March. Take care,

Since camp, I can't stop listening to Sweet Dixie -- that's on the top of my "figure out the break" list now.

Wow -- Bill Emerson's picking is so sweet on that track I can't believe it never caught my attention before now.

Hey Stan - thanks for checking out the strings on your bass....and thank for letting me bang (you know Kathy, like Bang a Uey) away it this weekend. Its an awesome playing and sounding bass. It was great seeing everyone again this year. Thanks to Cindy and Bill for a great camp.

Chip - how about those Phillies!

I'll just add my word of thanks to all who help make the Banjo Retreat such a wonderful time. I have next year's retreat in my calendar already. There are so many facets and so many people that make it such a treat. So many interesting people with so many interesting stories - all of us gathered by our loves of banjos. Thanks again. See you next year.

Rick
