Notes: A Bill Monroe classic, recorded in 1947, that is admirably suited to driving breaks on the banjo. I wonder whether Monroe wrote it with the idea that it would be a showcase for Earl Scruggs and his "fancy banjo." This is my arrangement of the song. The first break sticks closely to the melody, but employs a melodic G-D-G turnaround in the last measures that I use a lot in my playing. The second break features some interesting melodic bits, includes a high part that I really like, and ends with a turnaround that, to me at least, sounds a bit like Alan Munde's playing.
