<title>Logged in while logged out?</title>

<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/163246</link>
<description>I recently discovered that whether I'm logged in or not It says that I am &quot;Online&quot; on my homepage and on all of my posts. It won't let me look at members only pages so I'm positive that I'm logged out. I've refreshed the page, looked at it from other computers, and even asked one of my friend to log in and view my page while my computer was OFF and it still says I'm online.

<title>Forum signatures are now disabled</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/163081</link>
<description>Hi Folks,

As of today, we're no longer allowing signatures on forum posts. To be clear: you can write whatever you want in your posts, as long as it's within the rules... I just disabled the part of the system which allows you to save a signature and automatically add it to every post.

We've allowed signatures since the forums began several years ago, but the mods, myself, and most members we've asked agree that signatures simply crowd up the discussions and (sometimes) create conflict and unnecessary work for the mods. I figure the simplest solution is to just ditch the signatures altogether--so that's what we've done.

Feel free to lament the passing of the forum sig below.

<description>I just returned from a vacation to find that the last time I signed out, the action didn't &quot;take&quot; I was still signed on when I fired up my machine. So, ever the curious sort, I attempted to Sign Out and then back in. Can't do that completely.
When I go to the forum, I can't respond without signing in on EACH page, however, when I click the 'homepage' link on the right hand side of the screen, it takes me to my homepage with the ability to edit.

This falls under the category of &quot; Not that big a deal&quot; just seems a bit quirky that I have to keep logging in. I dunno, and am a lil 'puter stupidt[;)]

<description>Is there a way for a friends request to expire..??

I would like to deny some friends request (for personal reasons), but sending them a &quot;denied&quot; notice seems kinda harsh, especially when there is no apparent reason for it.

Older requests possibly should just expire.....

<title>Can't see videos in Internet Explorer</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/161756</link>
<description>In the past week or two I've found that I can no longer see hangout videos in internet explorer on my laptop. I just get a blank space (with a small icon in the top right hand corner) where the video would normally be.
It seems to work OK on other computers and on Firefox.
Could be a change in the hangout or one of my settings. Would appreciate some help from Eric or others on fixing this,
Thanks,
Craig

<title>Downloading MP3</title>

<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/161723</link>
<description>I am sorry if this is a redundant question but I did a search and could not find the answer. When you download Mp3's from the media archives
1. Do they stay on your computer, because I haven't seen a way to save them anywhere
2. I wanted to play along with the songs and not have to get on the internet every time and search for them
Thanks

<title>Firefox freezes</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/161722</link>
<description>The Banjo Hangout gets Firefox to 'freeze'. It was that way from the beginning, after changing from IE to FF.

When working on line, after 30 or 50 seconds of no keystrokes, the screen 'freezes'.
Only repeated reloading brings the whole thing back to life. then quickly continue before the screen locks up again.....

So far, only the BHO shows this behavior.

What's causing it and how to get rid of this annoying bug?

<description>Does it have to be re-posted? I can't find instructions. I guess I could cut-and-paste all the info, but it'd be easier to click a button somewhere.

<title>RESOLVED: Feeling blue?</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/160245</link>
<description>It looks like we're going through a Picasso-esque blue period. The header is blue, the page background for messages is blue -- even the head of the banjo in the extreme left side graphic is blue.

Has my monitor gone wacky, or has the color scheme changed?

<title>search member list by city?</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/159992</link>
<description>Maybe it's just me, but I can't seem to figure out how to search the member list by any attributes other than username or first and last names. I remember being able to do this is the old Hangout. I was trying to search the member list for people who are interested in teaching in my area (Seattle).

<title>How do I unsubscribe ??</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/159966</link>
<description>I am subscribed to the Swap Shop and Other Topics by accident and my email is over flowing. I have attempted to unsubscribe with no luck. I have changed my privacy settings to allow cookies but it still won't unsubscribe. I sent a message to Admin but they have not responded yet.

The little popup window &quot; do you wish to unsubscribe&quot; come up and I click OK but nothing happens. I do not get a pop up warning from IE.

   Help please !!!!!

                                                                    Thanks

<title>Bad results in Google</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/159960</link>
<description>Not a site problem, but a weird thing...

When I search using Google, I've been getting lots of &quot;Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)&quot; results for the BHO. Today I figured out the problem. There seems to be about 21,000 search results that point to wwww.banjohangout.org (four w's instead of three).

<title>Hand Gun thread</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/159887</link>
<description>Okay, I'm being a pain, but I have to point out that the &quot;does a hand gun protect you&quot; thread went 18 pages before it finally got locked. Actually, that doesn't really bother me, per se, if I object to a thread I just don't read it. My only point for bringing this up is to say that anyone who thinks the list owner and mods do not come to this forum with their own political, religious, and philosophical beliefs, and that those beliefs do not unconsciously color how they make decisions, need only look at that thread.

I feel that folks who enjoy collecting and using firearms for sport have every right to post threads to discuss their avocation without interference from gun control proponents. Stuff like the advantages of this shotgun over that shotgun, or this cartridge over that one, or anything related to the sport of shooting or the hobby of gun collecting. But when you get into issues which are at the center of the gun control debate, you are entering into politics. On the very first page, several members predicted a quick lock. Funny thing about that, it wasn't at all quick, was it? When you agree with the overall political sentiment, your definition of when something is &quot;political&quot; can suddenly get very lenient. It's human nature, I readily admit, and really can't be avoided, but a little circumspection in this regard from our forum constabulary would be refreshing.

<description>Under Lessons;Music Theory;Chord Construction
The link Chord Charts: A whole bunch of chords for standard G tuning
to volstate.edu is no longer doing it.

Probably some student who graduated.
Or flunked out because s/he played too much banjo.
