Sadly, it’s missing the original celluloid 5th string peg.

Does any one have one for sale?

Also, (probably a long shot)…how about a decorative bone tail piece like the photo I have attached?

Thankyou
Craig (England)

Paramount Style A tenor banjo parts

Hi all,
I acquired a late 1920’s Paramount Style A tenor banjo. I’m searching to find the original Page “8” shaped tuners for this banjo. I have read that there are two styles. Also searching for the proper tailpiece for this model which I believe as a “Paramount Lange Tailpiece” I have tried to find even decent pictures but those seem also scarce. I have been a 5-string bluegrass player most of my life, so I know more about those banjos than the tenors- any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Am I doing this right? First time seller - Rickard banjo

Hey there. I have never sold a banjo here before. (To be honest, I've never sold a banjo - only ever traded or given them away!)

Is this ad descriptive enough? I tried to answer all the questions I'd have if I were buying this, but did I miss anything?

And did I set a reasonable price? There's not a lot of sales history to go on for used Rickard banjos.
Capo search

I am looking for a particular banjo capo. I have know idea what brand it is. Years back, a friend of mine had a Paige 1st to 4th fret style banjo capo. It was not a Paige. It was just that style. It was chrome and it had a adjustment knob that was about as round as a quarter. It also had a pad for the back side of the neck that was also round and curved for the back of the neck. It had a flip down latch for the front bar. The capo was very rounded and smooth. Almost like a Elliot capo. The C-shape of the capo was rounded and very smooth. This capo was very streamline and compact. Does anyone have any idea what capo that could have been? I always liked it and I got to thinking about it this week and I decided to try and find one like it. Thanks so much in advance. Ron.

New to selling a banjo - is my ad descriptive enough?

I recently posted my 1974 Gibson RB250 here in the classifieds. Based on information I have found online, I think its asking price is at the lower end of the range, but you only know the asking and not the selling price.

I’m looking for some feedback from experienced buyers/sellers on the ad, price, description and photos.

I have purchased a banjo previously here on the Hangout and since I knew I wanted a specific Recording King model, I didn’t need a lot of description. I also bought it from an instrument dealer so it was a good experience. It went great, happy with that banjo (and thanks @John Boulding for the setup) , however it’s not a great data point to help create a useful ad.

banjohangout.org/classified/108879

I was wondering if anyone else is seeing this - I have tried to post a couple new "for sale" ads on the marketplace section, and when I bring that link / page up to complete a "new listing," there is no place ON said page to list the asking price for the item!

Middleman woes

I had a banjo listed, I had a buyer overseas, who involved a middleman. The Middleman contacted me and wanted me to lower my asking price for the Banjo. I declined and the transaction never happened
never heard from the buyer again. What is the job of the middleman? Do they negotiate a lower price? The buyer never asked me to lower the price in fact didn't ask any specific Questions about the banjo or transaction. ( I thought it was a little strange).
Could it be? the buyer and the middleman were same person. I don't get it. I understand the middleman charges a fee, if I lower my price would that be more profit for the middleman? I never had anything like this before happen. I thought I had an overseas buyer, maybe I didn't.

The Banjo Bolster

Hi Everyone!

This post is regarding our classified listing for the Banjo Bolster.

Introduction

In a nutshell, the Banjo Bolster is a revolutionary, patented device that enhances any banjo’s tone by transparently removing undesirable overtones, while preserving the full power and frequency response of the instrument.

Easily adjust the amount of overtone removal by how the Banjo Bolster is positioned inside the banjo pot, thus providing a wide range of control and customization over your desired tone.

The Banjo Bolster can be quickly inserted, adjusted or removed and does not require any alteration to the instrument.

We are having a rash of spammers posting on the classifieds, attempting to sell banjos. I locked/banned 2 of them this morning and several last week. They look legit, say they're from the U.S., but they aren't.

Before you purchase from a new member, please, please, check them out carefully. If in doubt, contact a moderator and we'll see what we can find on them.

A Reminder - Don't Delete Your Posts

Although it's in the Swap Shop and Classifieds rules, some members are continuing to delete classifieds and/or edit out their Swap Shop posts once a sale or trade is competed. Please just mark the classified and the Swap Shop initial post "Sold." That way the information is available for future reference. The mods will lock the Swap Shop thread. Note that your actual selling price remains confidential between you and the buyer.
