<title>1983 Goldstar GF-100HF TRADE for Mandolin or $1250</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/172955</link>
<description>I have an awesome 83 goldstar with original case in great shape. It sounds amazing.. like an old flathead should.. it has a hairline crack on the back of the peghead.. it appears to be a laquer crack because it doesn't go all the way through, but I'm no expert..and that is the ONLY issue.. it's mahogany and other than the previously mentioned crack, it's about mint. the metal parts could use a good cleaning, they are kind of dusty, but the banjo's 27 years old!
Anyhow, here's the deal. I received this banjo on trade, and the last thing I need is another banjo. I am looking for a mandolin of equal caliber to this banjo.. here are my requirements..
F style,
Hard case,
SLIM neck.. VERY slim neck..
Slender body.. like a Kentucky KM-1000 style.. not sure what you call that, but I don't want no fat body mando...

I don't care if it's an import, or a domestic, but the thing needs to bark! It must be in 100% playable condition and sound as good as this banjo does! It can be beat up, or pretty as a picture.. it really makes no difference to me, but it better have the sound or let's not waste each others time...
Not sure how we'd work the trade, because I'd want to play the mando before any trading was done, and I'd expect you'd want to play the banjo as well..
but it's worth a shot, so if you've got something you think would fit the bill, email me and we can discuss...
bbanjoboy@aol.com

Of course cash is king, and the banjo can be yours for the low price of just $1250.. which is only about $100 more than Janet Davis gets for a new Chinese GoldStar.. And everyone knows that the old Japanese goldstars were a million times better than the new ones..
If you're interested and would like pics and or more info, shoot me an email

<title>&quot;Dixie Brand&quot; tenor-to-5-string conversion</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/172890</link>
<description>Converted from a vintage (circa 1920) Dixie Brand tenor to 5-string by adding walnut molding (wings) to both sides of neck, 1/4&quot; fretless walnut fingerboard on top of existing fingerboard, 1/4 in deep brass-floored frailing scoop just below octave. Original peghead star MOP inlay. Peghead looks like Supertone.

This is a short-scale banjo, since it uses the original tenor neck. Violin peg tuners, Nylgut &quot;Minstrel&quot; strings, Yellowstone head. Tailpiece is a brass replica of a vintage J. E. Dallas tailpiece. All shoes &amp; hooks and and all but two nuts appear to be original.

$260, shipping usually no more than $25 in lower 48 states, 6% sales tax in PA.

<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/172848</link>
<description>Good evening, folks

Just listed an Enoch Dobson with 11&quot; pot in the Classifieds. Banjo and gigbag are virtually new. Love this little banjo, but I recently acquired an A-scale instrument that suits my needs a bit better, and can't stand the thought of the Dobson just sitting in the closet. Kevin is heavily back-ordered, so here's a chance to pick up one of these beauties for a good price and no waiting.

<title>Vintage Banjo-Guitar (probable Gretsch)</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/172777</link>
<description>Vintage banjo-guitar. Wood, metal and finish are in very nice condition. The peghead inlay and the thumb ridge on the back of the peghead make me think that this banjo-guitar was made by Gretsch.

Geared, guitar tuners. D'Addario Pro-Arte EF46 classical guitar strings. Natural skin (calfskin?) head is slightly stained from use but otherwise in very good condition.

Tailpiece is a bit funky-looking, but mechanically sound and functional. I smoothed the string holes to make it compatible with the nylon strings.

Pot is fairly heavy for rolled-over metal-clad, wooden construction, very well-made and in very nice shape. Good playability, I like how these nylon strings work with the instrument. Head dia. = 12 in., 30 hooks. Scale length = 24 1/4 in.

More pictures and discussion on my website, more photos on my BHO homepage.

$400, usually around $25 shipping in lower 48 states. 6% sales tax in PA.

<title>Yates V33 ring with rim and flange. Great parts.</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/172690</link>
<description>I have a really nice Yates V33 ring with the rim and flange for sale that my 2008 Yates Ron Stewart mahogany model came with. I changed out these parts in my banjo and now offer them to someone who wants great parts. They're a really good combination and they were made to fit each other, so no need to worry about bad fitting tone ring or flange. Add a resonator, neck and some hardware and you have a complete banjo that has potential to sound great. The parts are GREAT but I have no real use for the parts right now so I thought I'd let them go anyway. I recorded G2s upcoming album with these parts. Have a listen to hear what it sounds like:
www.g2bluegrassband.com listen to the tracks &quot;Mississippi&quot; and &quot;Gold Rush&quot;.
I played this banjo onstage at the Ryman at the IBMA Awards Show 2009 and all over at IBMA and sure have gotten some great compliments about it.
I'm taking offers.

<title>Enoch M300 with Warthog inlay</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/172572</link>
<description>I just reduced the price of this banjo to $4200.00. I purchased it from Kevin and waited about 5 years for it. It's a really nice piece and has only been lightly played a very few times. If you are looking for a higher-end Enoch, this is a good chance to get one without the waiting.

<title>WTB: Recording King Gold Plated Tone Ring</title>
<author>eric@banjohangout.org</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/172530</link>
<description>OK....still looking for a Recording King gold plated flathead tone ring. I recently bought a RK-82 with another ring in it and would like to return it to original plus I happen to like the RK rings. Don't make me have to fly to China and pay a production supervisor under the table to &quot;lose&quot; one out the back door or sell one to me from a back alley as a Flinthill replacement part.......
