WTB VEGA Sonny Osborne model

Before I go and take the plunge on an old Fairbanks banjo, I have to ask, anybody out there ready to sell, or know of someone who would sell, a VEGA Sonny Osborne model at a reasonable price? I'm not prepared to "pay any price" to get one, but I have to ask before I commit the money to the Fairbanks. I would put my money into a VEGA Sonny Osborne first, if one was available.

Gibson Hardshell Case for sell

I have a new looking Gibson Hardshell case with gold latches, silk interior cover and combo lock. The combo lock was never used or set and istructions for doing so are included. The case housed a 94 RB75 when new from Gibson. The new owner of the banjo bought some fancy looking archtop case hehe... so here is this one for sale or trade. I really don't know what to ask for it, obviously not $1 but I will accept trade offers and cash offers. I'll pay my 2% hangout donation on whatever it sells for. Thanks for looking.

Whyte Laydie No. 2 - Fawley neck

I just posted a banjo for sale. I am buying an original 1903 Fairbanks Regent and need to pay for it through a form of Banjo Exchange Program (I need to sell you this banjo in exchange for your money!).

The banjo was made for Jeff Menzies by Wyatt Fawley. Jeff sold it to me about a year later. The banjo is a great playing banjo and you may never find another one of Wyatt's banjos as nice as this one. It is a Pre-Fire style banjo that was done in his "Artist Grade' that has the heelcap and peghead veneer dyed to match the look of the original banjos. I listed it under the Vega catagory because the rim is a 1928/29 Vega Whyte Laydie, however the neck is a Fawley copy of the Fairbanks No. 2 and I have a replica Fairbanks plate on the dowel stick.

This is an excellent banjo for the money. So please don't let the absence of a brand name on the headstock fool you.

Frankenbanjo (Gibson parts included) for sale!

Due to reasons beyond my control...I must sell my beloved Hatfield-necked, "Gibson" copy. It was built late 2008 by Arthur Hatfield. I first purchased an Oriole tenor (made by Gibson) with a full-thick ness pre-war rim. The original tenor banjo was dis-assembled and sold off as parts except for the rim. The rim sat at Arthur's until I could find a resonator for it. I first had put a JLS #4 tonering in the banjo. I liked the tone, but I knew that I loved the tone of a Huber tonering more. I found one on eBay, where I also found the tenor Oriole rim. Arthur plugged the holes that needed to be plugged in the rim, and then cut it to fit the JLS ring. The resonator is a well-used circa. 1930's style 11 Gibson pearloid-covered (black-painted) one. The pearloid is stable, but has had a lot of mileage! Carved initials, scratches, well-worn on the edges...it has travelled, and been through many hands.

As I mentioned earlier, I took out the JLS tonering, and added a Huber 20-hole nickel-plated long-skirt tonering. The hardware is all Prucha, with the double-hump tailpiece (a Prucha Presto will also be included). Bryan Hooper compensated and radiused bridge. The neck was made for me by Arthur Hatfield. I love his work! Some of THE best out there! Arthur made a wonderful "Crowe-style" neck...nice grained mahogany with a Flying Eagle pearloid neck, rosewood board, and 12 or 14" radius (can't remember now?). It has Gotoh tuners with ivoroid buttons, Cheat-a-Keys (d-tuners) w/ matching ivoroid buttons. The neck is finished in natural mahogany, I did not re-finish the resonator, but someone before me in this banjo's journey did.

I also have a used Calton case (white exterior finish) with blue interior. The case does not have to go with the banjo. I will sell the banjo alone for $2000 and include a cheap case with it. I will not sell the case alone though~

Please email me with any questions through the BHO, and I do have additional pics, and will be glad to take more if requested. I would like to sell this banjo to a hangout member! I would ratrher not put it on eBay...

For Sale: TN 20 nickel tone ring

I have a almost new TN 20 nickel tone ring that has been in my banjo for about a month and a half. I got this ring from Ed Stacey (pipefitter61) on a trade. He got the ring from Kenny Ingram. It had never been in a banjo until I got it. It's a great sounding ring, but I'm a tinkerer and want to try a Hopkins out. If you happen to have a Hopkins ring to trade, I would be interested. The ring is in my banjo now, so I don't have any pictures up.http://www.banjohangout.org/classified/14200

RK-85 soloist up for sale / trade!

I'm looking for a nechville in trade.. The RK-85 would of course just be a portion of that trade... the balance would be in cash.

That said, I'm asking $900 for the RK-85 and an additional $100 for the fults TP..
I WILL sell the banjo w/o the tailpiece.. but I WILL NOT sell the tail piece without the banjo.. I'll keep it, if I can.. but it makes that RK sound $1000 more expensive.. so I hate to take it off..

Buckbee - Wm. Pond Ladies' banjo, fretless

Very nice, bright tone and very good volume. Good playability. A nice, small, light fretless. Small pot and short scale may indicate that this was a "Ladies'" banjo.

This banjo originally was fretted, more details on the ad and on my website.

Buckbee produced a lot of banjos, and some say that Buckbee was the best of the mass-produced banjos from the late 1800's. Buckbee also made banjos for Dobson and others. "Pond"-stamped banjos are not common.

$360 plus S&H (usually $25). Will fret for additional $40.

Looking for some new leather and/or plastic washers for my Waverly tuners. My tuners appear to be sloppy and thought I might tighten them up with new washers. I don't want to over tighten the screws.

Thanks

4 GREAT BANJOS FOR SALE

I've recently gotten a bit overstocked on my banjo inventory so I'm going to thin the heard as they say...here's what I've got to offer:

1:) <b>Brand new Huss & Dalton Owens Mill walnut banjo.</b> It's in the classifieds, $2600. It's brand new, recently acquired from a former H & D dealer. What else can I say.. new banjo, used price.. amazing sound, and appearance. PLUS, I'll include a Lakota Leathers banjo strap at no extra charge! (that's a $50 value)

2:) <b>1983 goldstar GF-100HF</b>-- about as close to mint condition as your going to find. original case has some rust on the handle and latches. Small hairline crack on peghead which I believe is just a laquer crack. Does not go through to the headstock overlay.. Amazing playability and that classic Japanese goldstar sound. Very much like a modern Huber or old flathead. Very 'tubby' and open. Great 4th string on this one and bell like highs.. $1275 deliver, PLUS, I'll include a Lakota Leathers banjo strap at no extra charge! (that's a $50 value)

3:) <b>Fender 'Leo'</b>-- great little Japanese banjo with original clear head and case. Dot inlay in very, very nice condition. There are a couple of these in the classifieds for around $775, but this one can be had for just $675 delivered. PLUS, I'll include a Lakota Leathers banjo strap at no extra charge! (that's a $50 value)

4:) <b>Native American banjo</b> This one I just decided to 'throw in the mix' as an option. I have played this banjo for about 2 years and built it to draw some attention to my strap company (Lakota Leathers). I have had a few changes to the design in my mind and would possibly let this banjo go for the right price to the right purchaser in order to build one with a few modifications. Some of you have seen this banjo and know how absolutely amazing it is. It has an arrowhead shaped peghead with an eagle feather inlayed on it, Native American designs inlayed all up and down the fingerboard including a white buffalo and medicine wheel among other things. The resonator is burl walnut with a medicine wheel inlayed on the back. The nickle of the pot assembly has turquoise stones all around the tension hoop, the tailpiece has Zuni inlay, the tone ring is currently an archtop with a 1950's native american hatband featuring turquoise stones all inlayed around the outside. It's just an amazing instrument. I would let it go for $7500 with an Ameritage case and of course a Lakota Leathers strap. Serious inquiries only please, I would listen to serious offers and possible trades.
