For Sale: Gibson Style 100 Conversion to Style 3 Wreath

This one just came out of the shop today and it is a real hoss.
It started life as a 1957 RB 100. The rim was turned for a 3lb 1.5oz. Gibson Blackjack tone ring. The resonator was reskinned in beautiful mahogany and had the sidewalls and inner lip cut down to pre-war specs. Some of you may know that the sidewalls of the 1950-60 Gibson banjo was about 1/8th" higher than the pre-wars. That's why they went to the short L bracket, so the flange would set down on the inner lip, giving you basically the same tone chamber. Anyway, to use the pre-war L brackets, the resonator has to be cut down to prewar specs. It was then bound and finished as a pre-war style 3 would have been. A beautiful piece of mahogany was selected along with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, and the old style 3 wreath inlay. The neck was hand profiled to templates taken from an old 1937 RB1 neck with a slight V from fret 1-4. The feel is great, but the sound is even better. Deep throaty growl with almost a SPLAT! everywhere you play. It's got it all.

This is my standard conversion that I do on these old 100s. The pot hardware is all RB100 with the exception of the tailpiece and armrest, which have been upgraded, and the L brackets. You never know what your going to get till you string it up and put a pick to it. They all come out good, but this one is a big notch above. You'll never spend $3800 on more banjo anywhere. This one will be at Joe Val if someone doesn't buy it first. Thanks for looking...Bill

1986 Earl Scruggs Standard #0923 of 1500

1986 Earl Scruggs Standard in awesome shape. No apologies needed. Had sliding capo at one time and holes were filled professionaly. Has spikes at 7 and 9. Someone removed the original tuners many moons ago and added the current tuners pictured which work great. A little wear on the arm rest, the rest of the metal is great. One of the first 1500 made that Earl actually signed, this is # 0929. The banjo is all there. The strap pictured can be included for an additional cost, it's brand new from Dogwood Designs and I bought it at SPGMA from Dave over the weekend, it really looks great with this banjo. It plays fantastic and is a hoss, I played it 4 days at SPGMA and had many many compliments on its tone and volume. Action is set right. It is pictured with a KatsEyez bridge which I will keep. I stuck it on awhile ago tonight to check it out but it sounds much better with the brand new 5/8 Snuffy I bought from Nechville this weekend. Strung with new 9.5s. I am open to trades. I would really like something with a radius fretboard, would really like a Nechville.... really... Would consider all and any other trades, trades/money, banjo & guitar, Really have a liking for engraved adored banjos. I played a Staghorn over the weekend and was relly impressed with it. Feel free to call or email. talcron@hotmail.com or just send me a message thru the hangout. I always pay Eric his fee out of my money whether I trade or sale., without the hangout I wouldnt be cursed with banjo fever and we need to SUPPORT BHO! Thanks in advance,

For Sale: Huber Original Gold VRB-3 Wreath

This banjo just arrived. This was one of two gold plated VRB-3, wreath, banjos made by Huber before the original Vintage series was canceled in response to complaints by Gibson. This particular banjo has been back to the factory for a factory installation of the newer HR-30 tone ring. The banjo is in virtually unplayed, mint condition. The sound is very strong with outstanding bass response and good balanced tone through out the register.

If you are a Huber fan, I can't think of a better example of his work to own. The knew version of this banjo, now that Steve is building them again, is over $5700. Here is your chance at one of only two originals for much less.

This banjo also comes with the following documentation:
- All receipts for all work done on the banjo
- Notes from owners conversation w/ Steve Huber and an email, the same day, confirming that this is one of two.
- Huber's original add for the vintage series. A page pulled out of Bluegrass Unlimited.
- Huber's web posting of why the series was discontinued.
1946 Martin D-18 sunburst (the guitar that was in the Huber Banjos suite)

This listing is for a rare, sunburst finished Martin 1946 D-18-for those of you who were in the 'Huber Banjos Suite' during SPGMA-this is the guitar.

What I'm about to state is not meant to be taken as empirical fact, because the guitar was made in 1946: I've only known the guitar for the last 8-10 years:
It's a sunburst finished 1946 model Martin D-18. Randy Wood did some work to the guitar years ago, namely:
>applied finish over some of the areas around the pick guard and bridge that had worn through to the wood over the years
>replaced the bridge with an exact replica of the original bridge
>re-set the neck
>plugged a hole in the treble lower bout, where it appear a pick-up jack might at one time have been installed
It's a GREAT sounding D-18. Everyone in the 'Huber' suite that heard it was highly complimentary of it. Even with five or six prewar or new Huber banjos being played at once, and a couple of mandolins being played-this guitar was very present, no matter who was playing it.
It plays great-Randy Wood's legendary reputation as a builder and repairman is evident and well earned, as the repairs and set-up work he did on this guitar are just as stable and accurate as they were the day this guitar left his shop.
I'm not interested in any trades for this instrument..
If you've ever wanted a special, vintage Martin this one is certainly worthy of consideration..
thanks for looking!
Cheapest Baldwin/Ode Style D in the USA!!!

	I think!!!!

1977 Baldwin Ode Style D banjo. Plays and sounds great. No issues, just pick it up, start playing and channel your inner Bobby Thompson!. Gold plating on tension hoop has significant plating wear, oxidation and some pitting. That being said, I like the way it looks, but you may wish to have it re-plated. The plating on the flange, tone ring etc is in good condition. There is normal player wear on the arm rest. $1895 including shipping!!! Real good deal on a classic.

Presented for sale in the cited Banjo Hangout classified ad is a replica of a Boucher Style Early or Minstrel Era banjo.

This banjo was made as a concept, blending many of the different features in the Boucher Style instrument, with a few modern features that make it more reliable for everyday all weather play. This instrument features an adjustable tension design as available on the later Bouchers, and a modern 12" Remo Renaissance head for reliable playability in all weather conditions. It is also fitted with Aquila Minstrel Nylgut strings.

This banjo was done as a demonstration instrument for my Boucher Style Banjo construction guide and plan, and I’m now offering the banjo for sale.
