It is now in the BHO tab section.

I'm going out to rake leaves now.

Leaving On A Jet Plane - UPGRADE....

This arrangement is now in the tab section here at the BHO.

It's an absolutely gorgeous, Missouri fall day outside.

I have to go cut some lumber into shelves for my kitchen cabinets.

I swear...we would ALL be better banjo players if we spent our time perfecting our craft (hobby), instead of sitting inside on such a nice day...at a computer.

Who invented these things anyway?

I'm now thinking of mounting a "fifth string peg" on the side of my monitor...

Maybe that'll fix it.

Enjoy the new arrangement...and don't spend your whole weekend sitting at your computer!

John Hartford wouldn't have done it!

;)

I just bought a Gold Tone banjola. It seems well suited to soft, sweet music. Can anyone suggest some slow, pretty songs/music? (No, I haven't changed teams, I just want to try something other than standard old time/bluegrass tunes) I prefer either open G or Sawmill tuning and nothing too complex since I have limited skills. I was thinking of starting with "Danny Boy". Any other ideas? It would be really great if you could refer me to a tablature source for any songs you might recommend. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Woody Guthrie for beginners?

HI !
I'm a beginner, only playing since 4 months. I'm teaching mayself, because I'm living in Germany and in my town are no banjo teachers.
I have some books, but my problem is that I don't know many songs, but I know dozens of songs of Woody Guthrie, so that I know how they should sound like.
Does anybody have very easy tabs for songs like Going down the road feeling bad, pastures of plenty, oldtime religion etc?
That would help me a lot.

Crazy Eyes - Old Crow Medicine Show

This arrangement has lyrics with a melody line (top stave), banjo back-up mixed with an occasional Scruggs style flourish (second stave).

It also includes back-up on guitar, dobro, bass and percussion.

I intentionally hid all but the top 2 banjo staves...it prints out 27 pages with all staves exposed, 6 pages with just the 2 top staves showing...so be warned! :)

It is now uploaded to the tab section here at the BHO.

Rainbow Connection - Kermit

This arrangement has the banjo lick played by Kermit in the movie, all of the lyrics, and the melody line.

But it is not a 'solo' in the true sense.

The song is defined by the melody and the vocals with the banjo riff thrown in occasionally.

This arrangement could still be used by someone wanting to sing the tune & throw the lick in occasionally...kind of a 'fakebook' arrangement to follow.

It is now uploaded to the tab section of the BHO.

I believe this arrangement has been requested of me more times than you could imagine.

"Indian Hills" (New Grass Revival)

Does anyone have tabs to this? It is a fiddle-tuney type instrumental played uncapoed at Cm. It is from a slightly lesser known New Grass Revival album called "On The Boulevard." It was the first album to feature Bela Fleck and his solos on this tune are amazing!!! As far as I can tell, this is a very obscure (but oh SOOO wonderful) tune and I haven't found any tabs online.

There is two breaks in this song, one more melodic and one free form, improv. style, I love both and I'll settle for either one I can get, even if its not 100% accurate. Mainly I just need a guideline to help me figure it out.

If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it soo much.

Thanks yall!

Hi all!

I heard Ommie, Let Your Bangs Hang Down for the first time today, a version by Gaither Carlton, and it took my breath away. It's a catchy one! While a tab would be lovely, I'd be grateful for just the chords and the tuning used - I spose it's best that I have a whirl at working it out. If it gets too tricky, I could always peek at a tab. Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone have a melodic tab to "I Know You Rider?" It's a fun song to play. I've been learning melodics and in the right places they can really dress up a tune. Surprized to not even find a tab period for it in our archives. just lookin for ideas.

All I have are the lyrics. Does anybody know the name of this song or have the tab?

Goin’ down the track with a chicken on my back,

Soles on my shoes are almost gone

A little ways ahead there’s an old farmer’s shed

And that’s where I’ll rest my weary bones.

Weary bones,

Weary bones,

That’s where I’ll rest my weary bones.

A little ways ahead there’s an old farmer’s shed

That’s where I’ll rest my weary bones.

Git it, Bugger!

Looking for a Bob Carlin tab (CH)

I bought, several years ago, the 2 volume set of Bob Carlin's "Learn to Play Clawhammer Banjo" or a similar name, VCR instruction tapes.

2 or 3 years later, I gave it to somebody who was gathering CH stuff to send to our soldiers in Iraq.

So, now I have been playing the tune "Liberty" based on what I got off of the tabs with these tapes, but I seem to have changed the B part significantly - to the point I'm not sure if I'm playing "Liberty" or some variation of "Needlecase."

So, if anybody has the tab booklets from these tapes still lying around their place, I'd like to see about getting copies of them for my own use and memory refresh.

You can contact me via PM. And thanks for your help.
