For Sale: Dan Crary Signature Model Guitar. - $1,700 USD

The Taylor DCSM is an interesting guitar. It is the first signature series guitar made by Taylor guitars and represents the result of collaborative efforts between Bob Taylor and Dan Crary. My 1994 guitar has a solid spruce top with Indian rosewood back and sides. The top braces are not scalloped, per Dan’s insistence since he wanted a guitar with fewer bass overtones that was easier to amplify in live performances. It has gold plated tuning machines, snowflake position inlays. Abalone rosette around soundhole . It has a very thin neck that feels and plays great.

For Sale or Trade: Sweet little &#34Sovereign&#34 mandolin-banjo. Great player. - $300 USD

I played this fun little puppy for years. It's a great sounding & playing mando banjo (or is that banjo-mando?). As near as I can tell, the pot, neck, tuners and hardware is original; not sure about the tail piece cover. Bridge is new. 10 1/16 Maple pot w/ Remo or similar plastic head. Good action, plays in tune. And loud, you betcha.

I recently had some work done to mitigate damage from an earlier "repair," this included filling a couple of random holes in the stick & re-braising the bracket (see close up). It looks like the headstock was refinished at some point, too, note the broken star inlay. Neck and pot all original finish and all the binding and inlays are tight.

This is a great little mando banjo and deserves to be in the hands of someone who'll bang out tune after tune. I have a few too many instruments, so this one has to go.

Trade/partial trade for a nice old open back banjo considered.

For Sale: 1946 Martin D-18 sunburst (the one that was in Huber&#39s suite at SPGMA) - $9,500 USD

This listing is for a rare, sunburst finished Martin 1946 D-18-for those of you who were in the 'Huber Banjos Suite' during SPGMA-this is the guitar.
What I'm about to state is not meant to be taken as empirical fact, because the guitar was made in 1946: I've only known the guitar for the last 8-10 years:
It's a sunburst finished 1946 model Martin D-18. Randy Wood did some work to the guitar years ago, namely:
>applied finish over some of the areas around the pick guard and bridge that had worn through to the wood over the years
>replaced the bridge with an exact replica of the original bridge
>re-set the neck
>plugged a hole in the treble lower bout, where it appear a pick-up jack might at one time have been installed
>one repaired crack in the back
It's a GREAT sounding D-18. Everyone in the 'Huber' suite that heard it was highly complimentary of it. Even with five or six prewar or new Huber banjos being played at once, and a couple of mandolins being played-this guitar was very present, no matter who was playing it.
It plays great-Randy Wood's legendary reputation as a builder and repairman is evident and well earned, as the repairs and set-up work he did on this guitar are just as stable and accurate as they were the day this guitar left his shop.
I'm not interested in any trades for this instrument..
If you've ever wanted a special, vintage Martin this one is certainly worthy of consideration..
thanks for looking!

For Sale: 1930s Hager ARTIST Archtop GUITAR Maple SPRUCE Violin Finish READY 2 ROCK - $750 USD

This listing is for an early 1930s Hager "Artist" archtop guitar, in excellent playing condition. This has been my baby for a long time, but I'm forced to sell it to keep the lights on. The deep maple body and solid spruce top gives it a bigger-than-normal volume and punch than most other archtops I've played, and the neck is slimmer than most of the Kay/Silvertone/Regal instruments.

The body is 4.75" arched front to arched back, 11.25" across the upper bout, 15.25" across the lower, and the maple sides are 4". It has a sunburst finish on the 14-fret neck and spruce top with segmented f-holes- dark finish on the sides and back. There are the usual nicks and scratches you would expect on an eighty-year-old instrument, but nothing major (please view the enlarged photos). There are some repaired and cleated cracks on the front that appear to be very old. They're not pretty, but they've always been stable. The celluloid binding is in excellent condition all around, and the Ivoroid grained tuners work very well. The nut is 1.75" and the (25" scale) maple neck has a slight relief, but the action is nice and easy all the way up- no buzzing or fretting out. "SLINGERLAND / CHICAGO / USA" is stamped on the trapeze tailpiece.

I'm fairly certain I still have the case this came in, but it's pretty ratty, and will almost double the cost of shipping. If you want it shipped with the guitar, let me know. As notoriously inaccurate as the shipping calculator is, if I overcharge on shipping, I will immediately let you know and issue a refund for the excess.

I've been using one of my Organic Bridges on it, but the chunky original bridge (see photo) sounds pretty good, too. For an extra $20., I'll make a new compensated organic bridge to your specifications. Contact me after the sale and we can discuss the details.

Please check out my other listings.

For Sale: The Texas Toe Tapper! - $65 USD

Ideal for solo guitarists, banjoist, mandolinists (sitting or standing), keyboardists and percussionists wanting to add another element to their overall sound.
<p>

<p>
  Stomp boxes have become popular with multi-instrumentalists such as John Butler Trio, Terry Allan Hall, Luka Bloom, John Lee Hooker (possibly the first to use one back in the 40’s), Chris Smithers, and many others.
<br>

<p>
  Designed to be plugged into a bass amp, active subwoofer or PA, the Texas Toe Tapper has an amazing range of usable sounds. With a little EQ tweaking the sound can be sculptured to your taste.
<p>

<p>
  The pickup on the Texas Toe Tapper is entirely passive, so there is no dead batteries to worry about or "wall warts" to trip over during a live performance!
<p>

<p>
  One average stomp produces about -7 dB of gain, which is about the same as an electric or bass guitar, so this means it is suitable for direct input into a bass amp or other hi-Z unit, but might need a preamp or a DI to boost it's signal into a lo-Z mixing board. The output jack is a mono 1/4" (guitar) output, and is unbalanced.
<p>

<p>
   Your Texas Toe Tapper was lovingly assembled right here in Texas and while I usually paint them light grey (shows less dust from your shoes), you can order them in any color at no extra charge!<p>

8 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 1 1/2" <p>

Here's what some satified customers have to say about their Texas Toe Tappers:<p>

For Sale or Trade: 2011 Custom Martin HD28V w/ Upgrades (Price lowered!!!) - $2,400 USD

Up for sale or trade is a 2011 Martin HD28V. I purchased this guitar in May 2011 with hopes of learning to play but I really only have time to concentrate on my banjo playing. This is a beautiful guitar with virtually no playing time (there are no pick marks on the pick guard if that tells you anything) that has been case kept, properly humidified and upgraded with genuine Martin gold butterbean tuners and fossilized walrus bridge pins, end pin and strap pin (This equates to a $360.05 upgrade... yes, I have receipts). These pins are gorgeous with abalone dot inlays. I still have all the original pins and tuners that I would include with the trade. Comes with a very nice Martin Geib style case that came original with the guitar.

I'm looking to trade for a Gibson banjo in similar condition. Will consider other banjos (Huber Truetone, Deering, Stelling, Hatfield, Cox, etc.) if the offer is right.

Price is firm.

For Sale: Customized Gold Tone Banjola 5-string - $450 USD

This is a customized Gold Tone Banjola with a 5-string banjo neck and a 5th string tuner in the peg head, additional sound holes for increased volume, a scooped end to the fretboard, a scalloped tailpiece and a Pearse hardwood arm rest. The Banjola is a relatively quiet instrument with good sustain. The 5 string banjo neck lets the player use typical 5 string banjo chord shapes while producing a more mellow string sound.

This one was customized as described here; http://www.banjohangout.org/archive/181931

Since then the tuner buttons were replaced with black ones, and the arm rest was replaced with a thinner darker model.

I really like the unique and unusual appearance of the Banjola and people usually stop me to ask about it after jams. It's a real conversation starter and it lets a 5 string banjo player sit in with the guitars without having to switch over to 6 string chords in a big body guitar.

I have a number of other unusual guitars and unfortunately this one rarely gets played any more. So if you want a customized 5-string banjo necked, mandolin bodied, customized Gold Tone Banjola at less than a new one would cost, then look no further but buy now. It's folk art and it's a player and it's on it's way into the world.

I'm looking for $450 and I'll pay the shipping to simplify things.

PayPal only please. I'll ship within 3 days of receipt of payment and will send tracking info.

Thanks for looking !

For Sale: 1951 American Violin by Joseph Wallo, pristine condition - $1,600 USD

An excellent violin made by American maker Joseph Wallo in 1951. I am the 2nd owner of this violin which is in pristine condition. No cracks, no repairs, set-up and ready to play. Joseph Wallo was based in the Washington DC area and is primarily known for his guitars. Wallo worked for the House of Weaver where in all liklihood he learned violin making, which was more a passion for him than his mainstay of high-end guitars. I did some research on Wallo and see that in the early 1960s he built a neck for Pete Seegar's banjo! Pretty cool. This violin is dated 1951 and is #14. No bow included. Will ship in an old American Case Co. suspension case that has seen its better days.

For Sale: The Doc Fossey Guitar for the 5-String Banjo Player - $1,599.99 USD

The Doc Fossey guitar is an innovative instrument designed for five string banjo players. It allows the five string banjo player to employ the finger picking style of play into other genres of music beyond bluegrass, such as folk, rock, classical, and many more. The Doc Fossey guitar is a handmade, solid hard wood instrument composed of an Engelmann spruce soundboard, Indian rosewood back and sides, and a sapele (mahogany) neck. It contains sapele binding, abalone trim with a traditional banjo style abalone fret inlay, Gotoh® gold tuners with pearloid buttons, and a high-gloss finish.

If you play the five string banjo, or simply collect beautiful guitars, you need to see and play the Doc Fossey guitar.

The Doc Fossey Company originated nearly three years ago. Dr. Bruce Fossey is a banjo player and has enjoyed playing bluegrass music for many years. Dustin Fossey, “Doc Fossey’s” son, also plays the banjo, but has focused primarily on playing the acoustic guitar.

After years of playing bluegrass music on the banjo with Dustin, Doc Fossey decided that he needed an instrument that would employ the banjo’s style of play in a more mellow tone that better blended with the other types of music he enjoyed and wanted to play. The Doc Fossey guitar was born. After talking to other banjo players, we learned a demand for such an instrument exists and therefore went into production. This instrument is for banjo players looking to broaden their spectrum of sound and style.

Hey Everyone,

I have a 70's Martin Sigma guitar that I would like to trade for a Deering goodtime banjo or something similar (preferably open back.) The guitar is in good condition, I replaced the tuners. It's a mahogany dreadnaught style guitar. It sounds nice, but I just don't really need a guitar. I'll post photos when I get a chance.

thanks,
