<itunes:summary>Recorded Mar 29, 2011 in my living room, using Tyler's new Zoom recorder. For practice and educational use only. This is our take on this cool song by Gordon Lightfoot. This is the final in a series of jam recordings I made with a guitar picking buddy, Tyler Balkind. This is me picking on my Nechville Athena and Tyler is picking his Santa Cruz dreadnought and singing lead. I apologize in advance for my lousy singing, but hey, this is banjohangout, not baritone-singer-hangout LOL. Enjoy.</itunes:summary>

<title>Time in a Bottle (with vocals)</title>
<itunes:author>Jim Croce</itunes:author>
<author>Jim Croce</author>
<link>http://www.banjohangout.org/myhangout/music.asp?ID=13171</link>
<itunes:summary>This is a tune which I posted to BHO almost two years ago to the week. The version I posted earlier was an instrumental take on this cool tune by Jim Croce. About 4 or 5 years ago a friend of mine in Knoxville, Kent Bilbry, bought an 8-track digital recorder and I spent a day or two over there laying down about 20 raw tunes, just banjo and a tick track, so he could learn how to use his new machine. Time in a Bottle was one of the tunes I laid down. At that time, Kent gave me a rough CD of several tunes I had laid down -- and I have posted the mix he had done at that time, which was an instrument-only version. I didn&amp;#39t know until this weekend (Jan 14, 2012) that he had gone on to rework some of the tracks, and he had added the vocals to this tune. This started only as me picking banjo to a tick track, then I overdubbed a 2nd banjo part and later on Kent added some bass, mandolin, and lead vocal. It helps flesh out the recording a lot nicer, although it ain&amp;#39t half bad as an instrumental. This was a treat for me to hear yesterday for the first time, I hope it is a treat for you too. Enjoy. :)</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>First appearing on Sgt. Peppers album, this song featured all Indian musicians playing traditional Indian instruments. The idea to do this as an instrumental came to me one day while bowing my banjo. The sound reminded me of the Dilruba used to state the opening phrase on the original recording. I played everything except the tablas and percussion. The bowed banjo is doubled by the violin and bass in certain sections. The banjo is my Chuck Lee Chautauqua.</itunes:summary>

I recorded the banjo then Kent dropped in other instruments a few weeks later as he was learning about his new digital recorder. A bit sloppy, this was never meant to be anything other than a scratch track but thought I&amp;#39d share it here.

I have never found any musicians willing to work this up with me, having been told this is basically a gag-and-choke crappy song. I disagree. I always liked the tune myself. I hope you do too.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>So you still think that a banjo can only play fast and happy stuff? Here is something to bring you some tears in your eyes! Yeah thats pop banjo! Actually I do not listen to pop music that much but this is just one of the most touching melodies I have ever heard in my life. I came across this song on youtube and I was so amazed its beauty that I immediately cancelled all plans for this day and I started to write my own arrangement of this piece. It works so well on banjo and violin! After 3 hours it was done. The next day I recorded it. Everything is played by myself including the mistakes LOL! Please get me some comments. Picked on the HUBER BANJO.

<itunes:summary>Fans of Dennis Caplinger will appreciate his artistry on this song sung by 12 year old Gari Geiselman. Dennis not only played the rolling banjo parts, but he also is responsible for the guitar tracks, the mandolin, the fiddle, and even the tambourine. He played some killer fiddle and mandolin parts on some of the other songs on her CD, but as this is a banjo site, I&amp;#39m just posting the one song. You can always hear his other performances on Gari&amp;#39s myspace page. It is an independent release that unfortunately is not getting a lot of attention yet, and I&amp;#39d very much like to see the musicians involved get their due. Enjoy.</itunes:summary>
