What can I say about true craftsmanship and brilliance - Moses and his wife Crystal (who came up with the design on the back on the resonator) worked on an original design for my banjo of a lifetime made from burled Texas Mesquite wood (neck, resonator and tone ring) and Texas Ebony for the fret board - much harder and less prone to shrinkage and expansion than any other wood so the final product was beyond my expectations.
The inlays are all custom designed and cut and are of blue, pink and green Abalone - just stunning is all I can say. He placed sterling silver inlays all around the resonator from an belt made from sterling links. He used the links and buckle incorporated into the overall design. WOW.
Too bad more builders don't choose Mesquite. He also does a lot of neck rebuilding and has designed his own CNC machine for cutting the tone ring blocks to razor precision. He also has a very unique design bridge cut on his CNC for accuracy and emphasizes the bass notes. If you are in Texas and can get on his calendar I suggest its worth the wait. Look for him in Van Alstyne, Texas - Yes it sounds great to me and its so very LOUD with little decay.
