Published by Mel Bay, this instructional guide is "the guide" for anyone wanting to learn to play Old Tyme Banjo, especially old fiddle tunes. Dan starts with a unique twist, the double thumb technique. This allows the beginner to learn the basics of clawhammer banjo faster and easier. He teaches 12 tunes that you can actually play and hold an audience to in an entertaining style. The book, although a little dogmatic, uses that dogma to properly instruct the beginner on banjo technique. This is a must buy in my opinion.
