Sound

I started playing 5 string banjo a 3 years ago, 3 fingers and clawhammer, as I started to be more interested in clawhammer I was looking for an open back banjo , I found out in internet about David Prat , he is one of the few banjo makers in Spain, I think there are no more than 3 banjo makers in this country.
The banjo is great for old time, mellow and just bright enough for my taste. It also works for 3 fingers, is not the best sounding banjo for such a style but it works.

Setup

The banjo came with a good set up and 2 bridges, one 2 footed and another 3 footed bridge, the action was good, around 2,5 mm at the 12 fret.

Appearance

The banjo has a MOP and brass inlay, shellac finish, the banjo is a beauty although the finish is not as in a Factory made banjo is a hand made instrument.
The brass hardware looks great.

Reliability

For now I haven't had any problem with the finish and I think it will last for a few years with no problem.

Is great to deal with David, He sent me picture of each step of the banjo making process.
It has a life time warranty on construction.

Overall Comments

Prat banjos are well made at a really good price, you will find better banjos but for the price you pay for one of David instruments it won't be easy to find a new instrument of this quality and price.
