I play Scruggs style banjo, this banjo suits my style fine, better for Bluegrass. The sound quality is fine, nothing to rave about. Quite mellow really, with lots of resonance, not loud, but not quiet. The arch top tone ring is neat, if you don't know if you like them of not this is a good kit to experiment on. I liked the kit over all it was fun to build. Good for school projects haha! |

Setup

The kit was, okay I cleaned every piece in it. The neck was of pretty wood. The instructions are more of guidelines. This banjo is simple to put together and easy to change. Some of the bolts are poorly made, and it was missing the Sega logo, but that just means less publicity for them! |

Appearance
|
The neck wood was Mahogany, I read online from the Philippines, But it has a nice appearance, The fretboard was of Macassar Ebony, It feels like quality. The resonator was of plywood with maple veneers, the headstock had the same type maple veneer. All the wood looks nice with tung oil on it! The 5th string peg was rusted, and had way too much greece on it, and all the metal hardware was re-polished by me. |

The hardware will last, it is the not the best but it could last forever if you took care of it. My finish is good, the kit has no finish to start. I can depend on it, I could use it at a gig, but I would rather not because of its tone and volume. |

The arch top tone ring is different, but nothing is really amazing about this banjo, it is just a banjo you can build your self. The armrest should upgraded it is cheap, but it does not bother me at all. |
