What a bright crisp banjo this is, a ton of drive, pushes sound like banjos $3000 dollars it's superior. I'm using light gauge strings and a snuffy smith bridge. This banjo has plenty of sustain. It sounds great, really sings. |

Setup
|
The banjo was set up well when it arrived, no real complaints. I added lighter strings and a snuffy smith bridge and had it professionally set up, but right out of the box it was very playable. I'm giving it a 8 out of the box and a 10 after some adjustments. |

Appearance

Looks great. One flaw is on the top of the neck by the fifth string tuner, looks like the wood was burnt in a sanding/buffing process. When Goldtone was contacted they said that it was a hard place to work and that they would not consider it a blemish. It is a blemish. I was not impressed with Goldtone. |

Hardware seems tight, little play in the tuners, not too bad though. The thing weighs a ton. Brand new for right now, we'll see how it stands the test of time. |

Components seem decent, the tail piece seems a little light weight. |

I love the feel of the banjo, plays great and feels like quality when played. It was a toss-up between this and a RK R-80, and I think I made the right choice. The banjo feels great. If you closed your eyes and played, it would feel and sound like a banjo three times a expensive. If stolen, I'd buy another. |
