Sound

Sounds like a banjo to me, although I have not played in 25 years. My last banjo was an ODE 6500 which I liked very much. |

Setup
|
This banjo was shipped without the neck on it. It took a while to get around to getting it set up. A little more tweaking and it will be just fine. |

Appearance

One of the best looking banjos I ever saw, and easily one of the fanciest Mastertones ever made. I'm not looking to replace it, ever. |

Should last a few generations, although I won't put many miles on it. |

The abalone is nice, and I like the hearts and flowers, so everything was great about the inlay. All in all, it will do perfectly. |

I always thought this was a great looking banjo, and eventually it will sound as good as it looks - just need to get all the aspects working together. I'm in no hurry, and it sounds great already anyway. If you like a fancy banjo, this certainly is that. My guess is that it doesn't sound too different from anything else - an RB-250 to a Grenada - about the same if you set it up the way you want it to sound. If it was stolen, I would be mightily pissed off and collect the insurance, and try to find another, but it isn't likely I'd find one. Love it, and why not! I'm not too picky about the sound of banjos, as I feel like they can be changed to get pretty damn close to whatever it is you want to hear. I like the sound of this one, and of most Mastertones, and I like some other banjos too. It's all good! |
