Sound

I love the sound of the banjo. Very deep and hollow sound, but with a great crack and note separation. Very rich sound as well and nice bass. I am reluctant to use the common phraseology such as 'Bell Like', 'Pre war', 'growling' etc., because I don't know what they mean really. Sound is definitely the best feature of this banjo.

Setup

I won't rate this section, since I bought used, and although the banjo was set up, it was not the way I liked it. I tightened hear, changed strings etc.

Appearance

Looks really nice, wonderful walnut burl, and ebony fingerboard is faultless. I don't know wither the inlay is to my taste, but I think it is growing on me. Few dings, but I'm not too bothered by how a banjo looks.

Reliability

Yep, it is obviously reliable, I am sure it will last. The guy who owned it before me used it a lot, and it is still in one piece.

Components

I think it is all top notch, can't really fault any components. Fifth string tuner is possibly a little stiff.

This is a 2004 model, and is an amazing banjo. I am sure this will be with me for a long time, and have no worries about it at all. If it were stolen, I wouldn't buy another one unless a deal came along like the one I got, $5000 dollars seems a bit much to pay to have a brand new one of these made.

Sound

It has a realy great sound for that price. I actually use it as a bluegrass banjo, because it gives me a realy nice sound and a light weight instrument at the same time. It has a good amount of volume, a nice, bright tone, and lots of note seperation.

Setup

It has a realy bad set up when it arrived. It had a loose head, a tail piece resting on the head, real high action, and a broken bridge. Once I fixed all these problems, it was good to go.

Appearance

A nice simple and traditional look. It does have a few manky parts here and there, but nothing too bad.

Reliability

It is a sturdy instrument, and should stand the test of time.

Customer Service

When I ordered the banjo, the man told me that it would not come with a case, so i ordered one. When it arived it had two cases.... That is bad service. Also, it had a broken bridge when it arrived, and at first the sent me the wrong bridge, but in the end they got it to me.

Components

I dislike the tuners, and the arm rest is a bit warped, but apart from that everything is great!

It is my banjo that I use for travelling, and is a brilliant banjo. It is lightweight, sounds good, and is affordable. If it were stolen, I would buy another one, and it wouldn't be too much of a loss, because it is a cheap banjo.

Sound

It suits my Scruggs style perfectly, and i can barely fault the sound. It is loud enough to ring out in a jam, but not to loud to scare the other players off.

Setup

Perfect set up. I use a 5 star head (no frosting)

Customer Service

Great service, as soon as we arrived, we were offered a cup of tea, and I was taken to a room where he had laid out 9 banjos that he thought were good for me.

Better that alot of gibsons and stellings i have played. Got it for a bargain price, it should be worth at least twice the price. If it was stolen, would not hesitate to buy a new one.
