I purchased a used banjo from BVI in January, 2009. The transaction involved cash as well as a trade of an older electric guitar I no longer played. The negotiations were done via email, but I dealt directly with the owner, Mr. John Bernunzio. He was very open and straight-forward about the trade-in value of my instrument versus what he would sell it for in his store, and his figures were in line with the research I had done. I accepted the trade, and received an exceptional, one-of-a-kind walnut Banjo in exchange. It arrived well-packed, and was actually much finer than the pictures and description on his website could make clear. It is possible I might have gotten a bit more from the guitar by private sale, but with incidental expenses (commissions, PAYPAL, etc) I do not think the extra amount would have been worth the additional headaches. Dealing with Mr. Bernunzio was seamless. He answered all my questions promptly and thoroughly--even ones that required additional work, such as weighing the banjo and measuring the nut-width. After the sale he has continued to respond quickly to other questions regarding set-up (I liked it, and want to be able to keep it that way). All in all, I was quite pleased with Mr. Bernunzio and his store. I would definitely be a repeat customer. |
