Robin does very fine work, is personable and easy to communicate with, and will deliver outstanding results every time. Robin also offers certain customization or other services that are not available from all banjo luthiers. He French polished a prewar resonator for me in a manner that provided protection for "worn-to-wood" areas, but retained the finish and character of the well-used banjo.

Arthur has done two necks for me: a diamond-and-squares for an early style 3, and a sunburst maple style 12 for a '54 conversion. Both are well made and play wonderfully. Arthur is particularly adept at matching stain colors and his sunburst neck matched the provided resonator perfectly. He will do everything he can to please the customer, and will generously offer his advice when asked. Arthur Hatfield epitomizes honesty, quality, and value.
Update: Arthur has more recently recut the heel of a copy neck for a BB Granada for me. Couldn't have imagined a better result. Two thumbs up!

Bill Hayes makes very fine conversion necks. He did a BV style for me for a style 1 based pot that turned out exceptionally well. Two standout items: (1) the finish on the neck is just fantastically smooth and slick; (2) the resonator I provided had several issues and Bill went "above and beyond" my expectations to deliver a satisfactory result. Bill provided a fine experience in every way throughout the project.
