I've known Don for many years. He is a stand-up guy in every way. When you think of the word "integrity" Don fits the description of that word completely. He is the best at fixing anything wrong with a banjer better than anybody I've ever seen. He has more knowledge on pre-war Gibsons then you could take in a full day of discussion that subject. I highly recommend him for any and all banjer work. If you want it done right and done right the first time take it to Don, you will not be disapointed. And yep it's "banjer" here in old North Carolina, that's the way we say it, so that's the way we spell it. |

I play Bluegrass. This banjo has a good tone, very bright, also has good bottom bass. The bass D string is fantastic. I like the way this banjo looks. Good quality workmanship through out. I like the neck, the action is low. Notes true all the way up the neck. |

Setup
|
This banjo was not set up to my liking. I tightened the head. The action was good. This banjo was as good as any Gibson I have owned as far as setting up. |

So far I have not seen anything I would replace on this banjo. I did sand the bridge down to make it thinner. I came with a 5/8 ths bridge. The tuners work ok. |

Yes I would recommend this banjo. I like this banjo ok. I am not really fond of the clamshell tailpiece, but it works ok. I think this banjo will just get better the more it is picked. Of course it does not sound old as it is brand new, but it has as much volume as any Gibson I have owned. It is very easy to play, the neck is fast and fits my hand well. I did pick other banjos made by this same company, but this banjo was better than any of the others, and that includes higher priced models made by this company. The rim looks good, and the tone ring is finished very well. I do not see any problems with this banjo. |
