I first discovered Thoms playing a couple yrs ago after noticing he was a huge fan of Tony Ellis. I began listenin to Mp3's on his home page and found myself eager to hear what the next one had in store. They seem to take ya on a journey with each unique and its own story to tell..It was amazing how the Titles seem to fit the selections so well! Not many players have the ability to convey their emotions through their exculsive style, but this CD is a perfect example!..Ive had the privilege of mixing a couple projects with Him and Laurence Diehl in collaboration for BHO, but getting to hear Thom's original compositions with a full ensemble comprised of great players is a real treat. I highly recommend this CD!

I forgot to enter this back in the spring!!!.. Yeah, I had a neck that that needed some major rework and I was skeptical whether anything really could be done for these types of probs. Figured I had to just scrap it. Took it down to John in Mt Airy and he was in surgery 5 LONG HRS while I goofed around on BHO..LOL..Had to take out all frets , re plane the FB. The truss rod adjusting nut was broke so he had to route out part of the headstock to weld/solder a hex nut so I could have it adjustable again..THEN, if that aint enough! The neck was mounted on the pot off center so he had to reshape the heel so the neck angle would center up with the tailpiece. The lagbolts were badly bent so new lagbolts had to be put in. THEN , a great refretting job, plus installing a new JLS12 ring. She has a new look and personality now!. Can your say XTREME MAKEOVER..LOLThis is my 2nd review and once again, I would highly recommend John's services

I would like to tell of my exp. at John's Shop (Notable Repair).
My first experience was actually on the CHAT when I broke my headstock off about 3months ago. He sent me to the store to get everything Id need , then a step by step process to fix it myself because I had to have it ASAP. Then provided aftercare after her surgery.
I took off on my 3 .5hr drive to NC. Got there around noon then uncased 2 gtrs and my Granada. John checked the gtrs out uncovering some probs and providing remedies I didnt know existed. Then it came time for the banjo. Put 6 new frets in and got them perfectly even and LOW just like I HAD to have them. kept the original nut height too.. Provided invaluable set up advice to which I was resistant to ..at first...BUT, he explained the particulars and the change was VERY welcomed one. This banjo really does sound like a different banjo with ZING it never had and MUCH better note seperation..He set me up with one of his Redwood bridges and I was good to go!... A great exp! well worth the drive. Ill be going back to have some tonering fit and maybe heel work (if I didnt botch it too bad..LOL). He's very reasonable priced and a trusted friend, who really made sure I was happy with every lil thing before I left.
I would HIGHLY recommend his services!!!
