Mike made me a custom size brass capo to fit a wider necked old time banjo for $10 over his regular price. What a deal! Not only does it FIT, but it LOOKS GREAT, and what a surprise the increase in TONE quality was! The Paige i had pulled so much life out of the strings while the kat eyz capo makes the banjo sound just as good capoed as if i tune up! i demonstrated this at band practice and they were amazed. my fiddle player had told me to "just get a kaiser." now he wants a kat eyz for his old vega haha. I highly recommend Mike and his capos. |

At first i thought that they were a bit pricy, but, not compared to others of that class. Teh first one I got was a bit small, these are set to VERY close tolerences, that is why they work so well. I call them told them about my neck 9it is a hand made one so it is not standard) and they sent a replacemnt out that I got in 3 days. IT REALLY DON'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT. MABE IT IS BECAUSE THEY ARE SMALL OR MABE THEY JUST LET A TRUE PASSION FOR BANJO DICTATE HOW THEY DO BUSINESS. in short, if you have been thinking aobut getting one do it, you will love the craftsmanship and the service. |

Most impressive capo ! Very little , if any, retuning is needed . Doesn't move around and takes very little pressure on the neck. Pretty much everything you've already read about this capo is the truth. It is not cheap but is well worth every penny. I have no regrets and would recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their capo. MJ |

This capo, like its cousins in stainless steel, is an excellent choice for a banjo capo. I really like mine because of the following reasons: It doesn't shift in circles around the neck because the V frame keeps it stable; The thumb screw is very rugged so you get a really good grip on the head to turn the screw - it doesn't slip out of your fingers like some capo thumb screws do; It's attractive - sleek narrow design; Weight - this brass model doesn't add weight to the neck so the tone is preserved when it's fretted as well as when it's not.
Thanks Mike for a great capo

I own two banjos with slightly different neck profiles - a Gold Tone WL-250 and a Deering Sierra. I have been using an Ultimate Capo purchased from Janet Davis. It fit pretty well on the Deering, but on the Gold Tone, the half-moon shaped pressure screw on the bottom of the capo did not match up very well with the neck and the bar part of the capo was not uniformly pressing against the fret board.
I emailed Mike Smith about his B Capo in a V-shape. I asked if he thought it would fit both banjo necks. He sent me a new model, a less expensive bronze model, to try based solely on my word that I would either return it or buy it. It fit both banjo necks perfectly with no torque - the capo bar presses evenly across each string. It is very small and light, but is obviously highly engineered and precision made. The capo bar fits on a notch after crossing the strings. A small loop of brass holds the bar in place. Every part works very smoothly and precisely. I am 110% pleased with this. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality capo, that's several dollars less than the other hand-made capos available out there. The trust Mike showed in me will definitely make me visit him when next I need a capo, or a bridge, or anything else banjo-related he chooses to develop.
Well done Mike! A great product!!
