Recently purchased a Guardian Featherweight case (CG-010-JO) for an open back banjo.
Very disappointed to find that the case is too deep for an open back and too small diameter for a resonator banjo.... When I put my open back in the case and zip it up there is more an an inch of space between the banjo pot and the inside top of the case so just picking up the case causes the banjo to 'flop around' inside the case - doesn't seem very protective to me.... I actually had to cut a piece of foam to place over the head inside the case to keep the banjo secure when I use the case....
FYI: This case has a 'Made in China' tab inside |

This case looks look on the website, the price is certainly right at $50, and its actually pretty well made with backpack straps, an outside large pocket and 2 fabric handles, one on the bottom side and one on the lid so if you pick it up and forgot to zip it, the banjo won't fall out. The problem is that the interior offers very poor neck support left to right and because the resonator won't lay flat on the bottom of the case, there's some tension on the neck to pot connection. OK for going from house to car and back, but that's about it. |

Recently purchased a Durafoam Shaped case for my Epiphone mb250. Didn't want to spend $89.00 for a case that I will never be traveling with. Got the Durafoam on sale at music 123 for $37.00 and this is the best deal and product I've gotten in a long time. Your banjo will be protected in a tornado with this thing. Should last forever as long as the zipper holds up. Way better than any gig bag and better than a lot of hard cases. |
