Sound

The Mahogany and tone ring give me a richer sound whether I am picking up or down the neck. The sound seems to get richer and fuller the longer I have this new instrument. Incredible volume.

Setup

Everything was great. I had Eric install fifth string spikes and Keith tuners. There isn't anything else this banjo needs. He had it in a-one shape but still took me to his work bench to go over everthing again to make sure it was to my satisfaction.

The quilted mahogany is a feast for the eyes. The inlay work and finish is remarkable. Beautiful banjo, Beautiful!

Reliability

From tuners to tailpiece, everthing is top quality. Surely will still be sounding, looking, and funtioning superbly long after I'm gone. Pride and craftsmanship shine. The Sullivan's aptly named their company "First Quality".

Customer Service

From the time I entered the door at Fist Quality the customer service was the best. J. C., Mike, Eric, and Bill were all great. Could not have felt more at ease. Treated with respect, dignity, and patience. Great group of people. With the lifetime warranty I know they would take care of any problems I would have but I don't anticipate any.

Bill Sullivan said to me the day I ordered it, "Rick, we will build you a beautiful banjo, the best, I promise". He was 100% correct. Sounds better than any banjo on the market. If you haven't heard or played a Sullivan, you owe it to yourself to do so. If anyone stole my banjo, I would be devastated and hunt them down with a vengence, then I would have the Sullivan's build me another one.

Sound

i already have a pre-war gibson, and the bardstown banjo is as close to the old sound as i have ever heard.it has the real deep hollow sound that i like. it has a powerful volume, and the right tone and sustain.the tone is very rich all the way up the neck. this banjo is perfect for me, and my group stringtown.

Setup

the banjo was almost the way i like em set up.eric sullivan put the final changes i wanted and it was ready. the only thing i did to it was raise the angle up on the tailpiece when i got home, and the banjo opened up even more.

all the parts on this banjo are the best you can get. from the heavy duty flange, right down to the incredible sullivan tone ring. these banjos are made to last. i have already put the bardstown through its paces on all our shows since i got it, and it is turning heads. it is the only banjo i am using.

the two things that i really like are the neck and the sullivan tone ring. the neck has a fast feel to it, and the tone ring has the sound very close to my old banjo.
