Sound

Unique! Kind of like a cross between a banjo and a bouzouki.

Setup

Setup was non-existant! First had to tighten the head, including re-installing lugs that were rattling around the shipping box! Next installed the bridge (a nightmare to intonate on a twelve string). Still trying to get the action closer to the fingerboard.

Appearance

Actually a very pretty banjo! My biggest disappointment was finding out the rim is aluminum, as opposed to the mahogany rim in the BW6 6-string model.

Reliability

Can't really make a judgement call on that yet, but I have a few doubts.

Customer Service

Dean customer service has been a joke so far! I've been communicating with them via email on the issue of the high action. They seem pretty clueless.

Components

Aluminum rim, Nato neck, Remo head, closed guitar-type tuners. After I get the action strightened out I will install a Kevlar head I have laying around to see if it improves the sound.

Overall Comments

At $199 it isn't to bad, but for the $359 price I still see advertised here and there I wouldn't bother. Also, I wouldn't recommend it if youy don't want to do any tinkering.
