Ha, he looks like my best friend back home in Mississippi, in detail, I got a picture of my friend with a fish, same pose and everything! I miss fishin', ain't done it around these parts yet. I love noodlin', used to do it all the time.

The boy has been fishing since he was 3 yrs. old. My Daddy would sit him on a stool and give him a rod. Now you can't keep him from the lakes or ocean. He does alot of bass competition fishing. I'd be too scared to do noodlin', I watch them on tv sometimes. Don't they do alot of fly fishing?

That's good, I fished a lot when I was a young'un with my uncle Bob in Lousiana, we used to hunt a lot too. They do a lot of sea shoring fishing and fly fishing here, but I ain't got into the system yet, don't even know where to get a license. You don't need a license here in Scotland to fish on the ocean shore, but I ain't never fished on the shore, I grew up far away from the sea. Maybe someday I'll learn it myself, it would be good to catch something here, we live right by the rocky cliffs of the North Sea shore. Noodlin' just hurts a lil' bit, it ain't that bad, but it's very addictive once you catch a big'un!

I will leave the noodlin to those more skilled then I. LOL Does it ever get warm like Ms on the North Sea shore? I bet they are enjoying your "accent" or are you developing a Scottish brogue? Fishing from the shoreline isn't much different from fishing lake or pond side. Only difference is the the equipment, line is heavier and the pole is thicker. Saltwater fish are very combative when you hook them. That is the part I love, especially out on the water and ya hook a marlin. Yee haw. I was 11 yrs old when I caught my first marlin. My Dad and Capt Rob had to hold me in the chair but after 6 hrs. I landed that sucker! I was determined. LOL I demostrate the same stubborn attitude when it comes to learning the banjo. LOL

First, no, the weather here is always cold, even in the summer. We're in the northernmost region of the Scottish mainland, same latitude as Denmark and southern Sweden. The sun comes out rarely, but it still remains cold. As for the accent, it's unbelievable, they do love it here! Everytime they hear it, they say they love it. And no, I ain't pickin' up no Scottish accent, reckon I never will. I'm very proud of my Scottish ancestry and being here and all, but I'm very protective of my Southern origins. I have lived outside the South before, and I usually avoid picking up other folks vocabulary. I think if I was younger I would pick up a Scottish accent, but now that I'm grown and hard-headed, it ain't happening!

Wow, saltwater fish sure sound tough! One thing I wonder about shore fishing here is all them rocks. Wouldn't it get stuck all the time? I saw some footage of marlin fishing and have a buddy in Florida that does it, it sure looks like fun and some hard work too. Glad you caught yours though!
