1960's Vega long neck Folklore SS-5 ... take it in trade?

A rare longneck Vega tubaphone. I think Peggy Seeger or Hedy West (or both) had one of these. Different inlays & peghead than the standard PS-5. This album was recorded in 1957.

Bob blew me away...as much as I love Dave Guard, Bob may have had the perfect banjo style for singing...the Bluegrass boys probably would not dig it...Bob never did any fancy lead breaks that I am aware of, but I have naver heard better rhythm phrasing, dynamics and tone.

Thanks for posting, John...I now officially covet that banjo!

Oops, I know I should not drink on New Years Day. . .

Yeah, but can he "throw" a mean fastball like the REAL Bob Gibson?

Probably not, but your "other" Bob Gibson probably wasn't much of a banjo player. Good thing we had both.

Yeah, how true!

The REAL Bob Gibson could induce a roll into a triple play; this Bob Gibson could induce a triplet roll. . . .

If I knew you better. . . I would tell you more about THE STUFF!  Back to my New Years drink.  Keep warm--I love your photo by the fireplace!

I bought this album in 1958 and learned every song on it.  We met a few years later and swapped songs off and on.  We kept bumping in to each other around the country.

Old Bob passed on a few years ago in Chicago.  He was a hellofan entertainer.

Out of nowhere, my mother gave me this album. Don' t know WHY she had it, but I have it now. Very cool - and welcome to Denver!
