This is a recording my Dad made on a little cassette recorder back in 1968. The banjo picker is me when I was 14 years old. The banjo was an RB-250 bowtie with the factory D tuners.

Thanks guys.......my Dad who passed away in 03 taped every show and most practices we ever done About 2 years ago my cousin's wife found all the tapes and salvaged what she could and made 3 CD's out of them. My cousin who is not in this recording was the mandolin player and one of the singers in the band.......and he is 3 years younger than me.

Sounds like you learned kinda like I did I started playing when i was eighteen and when i was nineteen I got asked to join a band and when i did that I had choice but to learn fast. Best thing that ever happened to my picking was joining that band it gave me no choice but to practice and practice hard.

Know the feeling ....had to learn a lot of stuff fast but I also had to learn playing in closed chords. I would never had progressed as much if I had just played around the house.

that's really cool Ron, nailing it like that! That rhythm guitar player really knew how to drive it too! awesome!
