I wrote this yesterday ... recorded the demo this morning ... MEASURE 8 starts a direct rip off of the famous J.S. Bach cello-lute suite ... for 8 measures or so ... the rest is "in the style of" ....... My daughter, Molly needed something "classical" to play for her "juries" at college ... Pat Cloud is helping her with Chick Corea's "Spain", and she's learning my rendition of Joe Zawinul's "Birdland" ... we were weak in the classical category ...

this is from an early 1980's demo of our band the Rounders ... Raul Reynoso (guitar), Kenny Blackwell (mando), Bill Treadwell (guitar-Lead vox), and me (electric bass). Bill Treadwell passed away recently ... he played 5 string in the band, but no banjo here, unfortunately.

This was arranged and recorded by my family band a few years ago, and is on our 2nd CD. A FREEBIE for you guys and gals !!! It's kinda long ... from Bach's Well Temp Clav prelude (#2, I think) in Cm. The arrangement is goofy, but we had fun ... and the playing is a little funky, but we've gotten better since then ... practice practice practice !!!

This is a tune that Dave Grusin did in the 1980's ... for a movie called "Falling in Love" with DeNiro and Streep. I always liked it, so .. here 'tis. It's all 5 string banjo and electric bass with the exception of a shaker that shows up in the first section for a few bars. All other rhythm is played on the banjo head.

I found this old demo of a tune I wrote in 1989 or so ... this eventually "morphed" into "Buster's Bounce" which is in my music files here on the BHO as well. Players were Raul Reynoso - guitar, Kenny Blackwell - mandolin, Kevin Watkins (Brush Arbor) - drums via midi, a fiddle player named John ... uh .. I've forgotten his last name, and me - bass and banjo.

the alter ego to our beagle Buster, Rebel is a bundle of energy. My son Wil wrote this one for mando, but there is a banjo chunk in the middle with 2 banjos at once ... my Stelling Red Fox and a Frankentone with classical guitar strings.

This is from a demo of a band I played bass in ... circa 1981. The band was The Rounders ... we played The Banjo Cafe in Santa Monica, CA, Marineland, and local amusement parks (Knotts Berry Farm and Magic Mountain) in the early 80's. We did a lot of Cowboy tunes as well.

This is a transcription for 5 string banjo of the famous Jerry Douglas tune ... it is a chunk of the AKUS version. The version of this tune off of an earlier Jerry Douglas Cd (Sliderule) has slight differences in the time signatures. I'm playing electric bass on the left and a Mike Tuttle Mahogany Flying eagle on the right. Old wood 1" bridge and rim. Radiused fingerboard.
