Takoma Valley Band, April 1980. One of my all-time favorite Dillards songs, from their Wheatstraw Suite album. I played this in two different bands. Never heard anyone else cover it.

The Takoma Valley band, April 1980. Recorded direct to cassette in my living room as we practiced for an open mike showcase at the old (original) Birchmere. Ken Norkin (Old Hickory) on banjo; Jim Thomas, guitar; Frank Powers, mandolin; Kevin Brooks, bass. Kevin has gone on to Maryland musical fame as one of Them Eastport Oyster Boys.

Takoma Valley Band, live, at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia, May 6, 1980. This was our first public performance. As the featured band at an open mic showcase, we played two sets that night. This was our encore. Tape ran out, so I faded the ending for the mp3.
