Favorite Bands/Musicians: I'm a big fan of both traditional players such as Earl Scruggs, JD Crowe, Joe Mullins and Ron Stewart and more contemporary players such as Tony Trischka, Bill Evans, Tom Adams, Alan Munde, Ron Block and Bill Keith.
I'm particularly influenced by my first banjo teacher, Joe Snipes. Joe and I still get together every now and then and he is one of my all time banjo heroes for obvious reasons.
I've recently been listening to the first two Longview albums, the first few Bluegrass Album Band albums, Tony Trischka's Terratory album and the Tom Adams and Michael Cleveland live duet album.

I just turned the recorder on and noodled for a bit. This should give you a decent idea what this banjo sounds like up and down the neck.

I wanted to see how the HR-30 ring was settling in on this banjo.

Another take. I'm using AMB Cryo strings in the Huber gauges (.010/.011/.0125/.020JD/.010) as I was in the previous HR-30 clip. In the Berkshire clip with the Vintage tone ring, however, I had Huber Trutone strings on this banjo. I may change the strings this weekend and do another sound clip to see if there is a big difference.

Take #3 this time with Huber Truetone strings. I played the strings for a few hours to break them in prior to recording. Apple MacBook Pro with built-in mic.
