The KIDD posted a video of this a while back and i learned a rough version of it 2 months later im finally getting around to cleaning it up a lil.
Not sure what happened in the mix from audacity but the guitar ended up sounding like crap to me. O well this is a pretty cool tune with the tuning section and the little walkdown portion. I think this is a Steve Huber tune if anybody cares to ellaborate on it. Not much to be found to be found on it. I think KIDD myself and maybe 2 others are the only vids on Youtube of it.

Posting this version with the Tuner sections in it. My own arrangements. I play this one with my great uncle on the occasions where he has a gospel gig and he plays the harmonica along with me. The up the neck is usually what i play behind him.

This is played on my freshly assembled (less than 3 hours old) 80's Stew-Mac flatop no hole ring pot w/ an asian neck. Fyberskin Head, Waverly TP, GHS med-lights. I was kinda skeptical about the head but it gives it a thumpy sound kinda i think. Might just leave it as it. Still gotta get a resonator for this banjo. If anybody has one laying around you would like to donate feel free to send it my way!
Thanks to Dan Pennington for the pot and neck and all the work he did on it before he shipped it to me.

Always loved this tune and never sat down and tried to figure it out. While at work last night i listened to Jason Skinner and John Boulding on Youtube play it a few times then came on and went to work. Figured out the basic section mid neck in a few minutes. Took a good 7 hour siesta, ate some lunch and started adding to it. Anways it started gettin good to me so i figured id record it while i was in the mood. Turned out well i think. This is on the 26 TB1, and the Blueridge BR140 guitar.

My arrangement of Blessed Assurance with the cheat-a-keys. Not a terribly difficult one but i bet i've spent 5 or 6 hours behind the mic trying to get it where i want it. This has been the longest drawn out recording i've done. The banjo breaks were giving me fits. Then i quit on it around 3am the other night and saved the guitar trk and lo and behold when i came back tonight levels were all discombobulated. Took an hour to get them sorted back out. Sheesh!
Not sure what made me think of this tune a few weeks ago but i remember daddy had one of those old Smoky Mountain Hymns albums a long time ago on tape, you know with the dulcimers and all, and this one was always my favorite. Puts me right back on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the back seat of an old Grand Marque some 20 years ago. I started fiddling around with the guitar and out it came, then jumped over to the banjo and decided right then i had to get some Cheat-a's to get that whine to it, which my loving wife so kindly gave me for Fathers Day. So here it is hope you all enjoy it!

Ive always been a huge Doc Watson fan. He was contributions to music of all styles cant be disputed nor can they be forgotten. To see a man wear out a guitar the way he could in mutiple styles of play is sheer amazing and humbling at the same time. I thoroughly regret not going to see him in concert a few years ago. Ive recorded one of his most well known songs in a feeble attempt to honor the man and his music. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did recording it and remembering him.

This is on the Essential Scruggs album and for some reason i just love the song. I dunno what it is about it but i go to it before i do any other track on the CD. I somewhat worked this one out by ear while noodling one day. This is the first time i've done that. I got close to it and found the tab in the YCTYB book and filled in a few notes. Still it isnt straight outa the book and im pretty proud of that. This is on the new MGB-1C. As always let me know what you think.

After sitting this song outa half dozen times and nodding away breaks i finally decided to sit down and learn it. Sat down with my Stew-Mac parts banjo and tuned up to G# and listened to Earl play it about a hundred times till i got it down. Its not note for note like Earl but i dont want it to be either. Gotta work on the 2nd break now, the walkdown looks to be a tad tricky in timing.

An original tune heavily influenced by Earls Breakdown and Flinthill Special. Timing gets sketchy in a few places but not terrible. Done this one back before Christmas and just now getting time to put it down. It went un-named for quite a while and had it up on Facebook for suggestions. Recieved quite a few and with the help of a few BHO members on there we came up with Flood Gates and it stuck so here it is... Hope you enjoy.

OK we're constantly singing lil made up tunes to my 8mth old. One of his favorites is when i bounce him in my knee like riding a horse and say "Giddy Up, Giddy Up, Giddy Up Ethan! Giddy Up Giddy Up Giddy Up Ethan! Giddy Up Giddy Up GIddy Up Ethan, Giddy Up Ethan Bug! Pretty much to the tune of Hot Corn Cold Corn but not exactly the same. On the StewMac Mutt 5 and Takamine Guitar.
Anyone know why in the world theres a delay in audacity? I record either banjo or guitar then play over it while listening with headphones and no matter how good im in time with my ears which ever i play second is behind the first?Not by much but its noticable and very unpleasant. Any tips for this send em my way. And as alwayscomment and tell me what you think. Good and bad

After a discussion of this tune on the forum i realized I hadnt learned it so i listen to quite a few examples (probably the best is on the video advertising the Appollo-D-Tuners) and figured it out. Tried recording the other day and couldnt get my right hand working fast enough on the guitar so i tried again today...Still got a hair slow in places but i tried lol.

Did this one especially for Mama, her Birthday is next month so this is part of her present. Been wanting to record this for some time. Shes done more for me than this mere song can describe but i know she did everything in this song as did I. Secondly for my grandma who pass this year. Wish she was still here to hear it.

By no ways a finished tune....my guitar player always asks me do i know it and somebody was pickin it at a jam last night so i picked up on some of it. Unfortunately nobody really knew it so it never materialized. Tryin to work it out though and having poor results finding a descent version online to listen to. Listening to Charlie Cushman pick Sally Goodin with Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper blew my mind. Such an awesome group and Charlie is such a super nice guy. A song off of Junior Sisk's Heart Of A Song album....I instantly loved this song when i heard it the singing and harmony on it are outstanding and Jason Davis provides absolute PERFECTION in banjo backup on it. I immediately put it before several members of the band that we learn and perform this song and all of them agreed. I then found out it was originally released by Keith Whitley And Ricky Skaggs....Keith being one of my favorite singers of all time possibley they best that didnt live to prove it. Here it is, chocked full of horrible singing and some half tail'ed banjo playin.

First recording of Silent Night. Ive been messing with this one for a few days and thought id record it. I flub it up around the C to F change.(Round yon virgin, mother and child) That F is a new chord for me and my fingers dont want to go to there respective places as they should. Shoulda recorded vocals on a seperate track but instead i did it while playin the guitar so theyre kinda low. This is the first song ive recorded and sung on. Dont know what made me think of this song but it came to mind late last night while messing with the guitar. Couldnt sleep and had a headache (guess this song was tryin to get out of there) so i sat down at 1am with my old mutt and no picks and began picking around with it. Few mins later this came out. Sat there picking and refining till i was happy...about a hour later the wife stuck her head out the door mumbled something about "what in the world are you doing" so with headache gone i went back to bed. Figured i better record it today while its fresh on my mind. Really tried to get the melody to come out in this song.
