My Instruments:
I've got 'wa too many instruments right now and am looking to find new homes for about five of them! I'm playing a Tim Smith restoration of an old Sears SuperTone for the early 1900s, a handmade open back by Charles Gilbert, and an incredible bluegrass banjo by luthier Hugh Hunter of Canada.
Favorite Bands/Musicians:
"Crooked Still" and "Outlow Social" are currently my favorite bands. Virginia has a lot of local talent, too, such as Orange Line Special, Frank Solvan II, Leah Coryell ... the list goes on. Favorite players are Mark Johnson, John Lawless, the late (great) Mike Seeger, Patrick Costello -- I like clawhammer and bluegrass about equally, but I'm working on my frailing skills now.
