Well, I think I've stopped shopping for banjos for awhile. I just bought a Recording King RK-R85A, and i can't put it down. I went out to a shop that sells several quality names, Deering, Bishline, Stelling, and Recording King, which was more the low end out there.
Anyway, I tried out a few that I had been interested in on Ebay, the Deering Sierra, Deluxe, and Maple Blossom. I thought they were all really nice, but when I picked up the Recording King R85A, I knew which one I wanted. I loved the feel, the weight, and tone were all what I wanted, and while the Deerings were very nice indeed, they were also a lot of greenbacks for this ol' poor boy. The RK was$1399, which was a little easier on my wallet. But wait! That's not all.
I knew that there was a USED one with a case on Ebay with a starting price of $649, free shipping, and this was the second time it was listed. In the end, I got it for that price, and when it showed up, I found out that the thing was BRAND NEW. I was stoked. There are good deals around if you're patient.
Pick on.
