I love blues, old rock, and classic country. I'm a die hard Stones fan, especially Keith Richards. I like Janice Joplin, John McEuen, Ricky Scaggs, Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, all the Hanks, and Pink Floyd. I grew up with the Eagles, Jimmi, Clapton, Steppenwolf, The Who, Zepplin, Skynnerd and BB King. I thank Nazereth, Kiss, AC-DC, Cheap Trick, Van Halen and Foghat for helping us survive disco.

I'm an open back player now

With aplogies to all my resonator banjo playing friends... I've become an open back player. It's like being rejuvinated. All the fun, with no back pain and no migraines from neck strain. I'm like a kid again. I've played several in the past, but none of the factory made open backs did anything for me, being much too tame and quiet. That all changed when I got my Helix Sunbeam rim s/n 3. Paired with my Hazen neck and nick named the Helicaster, it's an AMAZING banjo. Loud. Louder into a microphone than my professional banjo. Lighter than my Goodtime. My wife said it has a tone like a honky-tonk piano, and my bandmates love it for our music. I've used it at a bluegrass jam and at every gig since putting it together, in early October. I'm an official convert :)
