It's been a long time

Saturday, June 30, 2012 @9:06:52 PM

Life sucks...that's about all I can say folks. Many things took my focus in the past few years and I won't go into depth with all of them except for when my wife became ill in early 2011 and her problems were diagnosed as resulting from one disease: Ovarian cancer.

It's been a long road and I gave up on everything and anything of interest to me to focus on her and her beating this disease.  It is a tough cancer as there is no test for the disease - no physical exam, no xrays...it presents itself as other problems such as intestinal or stomach problems  and isn't found till it's too late - about stage 3.  over 70% of the women diagnosed with it will die in less than 3 years.

My wife didn't make 18 months. She was diagnosed March 10, 2011 and I lost her on May 14, 2012.

33 and a half years of marriage - 36 years together, almost twice as long living with her as I lived with my parents.

All I can say is: take that one you hold dear and know that tomorrow is never a certainty.

Bill

I feel your pain. I just lost a life-long friend to the same thing. It was so sad watching her slowly fade away to nothing.
My thoughts and prayers are with you as you start life again with out her.

So sorry about your loss. I can imagine you in the try anything, do anything mode and not finding anything that gets rid of that terrible disease. You were lucky to have a "forever girl" and all the memories. You still have a lot of life to live. Do that in memory of her. You are in my prayers .

My wife and I were married 17 years...we had three beautiful kids, and life was good. Then in Feb 1988 (she was 41, I was 44) she was diagnosed with lung cancer (she was a non-smoker). She died 9 months later, and I still think about her every day. But, life goes on, the kids are all grown and have lives of their own and I'm so proud of how they've turned out. Think positive, focus on your loved ones and the future, and you'll be fine.
